G.i. Joe Joecon 2016 Sky Patrol Boxset
Sky Dive
The head is a reuse of Mutt (from Mutt and Junkyard)
Sky Patrol’s team leader comes with his jet pack.
Airwave (Cliff Mewett)
Since he’s the “communications” guy of the team, it’s only natural he comes with a cellphone.
Parachute pack and rifle.
Altitude (John Edwards Jones)
Ehh… I’m not sure how I feel about the visor. Seems like they could’ve done it better.
Airborne (Robert Six)
Man purse?
I’m a little confused about this guy, I guess he’s the second fella to be named “Airborne”, the previous guy was Franklin Talltree, not Robert Six.
Drop Zone
Reuse of the head from Law & Order
Note that the “holster” piece for his webgear is packed separately from the figure and is in the little accessory baggie.
Jet pack
Drop Zone seems a tad too tall (and skinny) for me.
Static Line
When not searching or planting explosives, Static Line serves as the team’s field medic.
Another Man purse?
He also comes with a jetpack.
Jetpack comparison (so we’re all clear on which belongs to who).
I don’t really remember much about the Sky Patrol, just that they appeared in the DIC Joe cartoons for about an episode or so (just to sell the toys he he he).
I do find it odd that this boxset doesn’t feature all the good guys coming with jetpacks as the some have it while the others only have parachute packs. Go figure.
Sky Patrol!
Even without the chrome, I guess no one outshines the Sky Patrol team.
Sky Creeper
Originally released under the vintage Air Commandos series , the original figure came with a huge glider, same as the Night Vulture. He now leads the Cobra team the Cobra A.D.D.E.R.S (Aerial Deployment Daredevil Elite Recon Squadron), Cobra’s answer to the Joe Sky Patrol team.
Despite being somewhat difficult to attach I like the cloth gliders.
Plus the gliders have spring loaded pop-up wing gimmicks.
Black Vulture
Originally released only in Brazil by the Estrela Toy company under the Sky Patrol toyline, his original name was “Abutre Negro”, which translates into “Black Buzzer”. The original toy came with a parachute, whereas here we get a fancy jet pack.
Instead of a parachute or glider we get this little prop. It has spring-loaded pop up wings gimmick too.
Flying Scorpion
Originally released only in Brazil by the Estrela Toy Company under the Sky Patrol toyline, his original name was “Escorpiao Voador”, which translates into “Flying Scorpion”. Like Black Vulture, this guy also came with a foil parachute. Similar with the vintage toy, he’s a reuse of the Cesspool head mold.
The Cesspool mask looks really good in black and silver imho.
He comes with his own jetpack too.
The Cobra A.D.D.E.R.S. team leaders
Cobra Night Vultures
Similar to Sky Creeper, this guy also appeared in the vintage Air Commandos line, this time he does not come with his huge glider though.
Knives
Crossbow (again, another throwback to the vintage figure)
Cobra Night Vulture team
Glider
Cobra Air Devils
Another figure based on the old Air Commandos vintage line. Not too shabby. At least the Club is trying to complete the old vintage toy line in modern sculpts.
Ugh… I really hate that visor accessory, I wish they made it with a different design. It just looks too goofy.
Glider
Lol… you gotta love the little tail on the Cobra logo.
Cobra troops don’t get any jetpacks, eh?
