Power Rangers Lightning Collection White Ranger
Tommy Oliver, the original Green Ranger is given new powers by Zordon after he uses up the last of his remaining Green Ranger powers. Now, with his powers created from the powers of light, Tommy is free from evil influence unlike his Green Ranger alter ego. He is also promoted to become the new leader of the Power Rangers.
He comes with his magical talking sword, Saba (Byakkoshinken in the Japanese version).
In the series, Tommy uses Saba to summon his Zord, the White Tiger Zord (Dairanger’s Kidenju Won Tiger).
The set also comes with an energy effect that can be slotted onto the blade of his sword.
In the original Japanese series, Gosei Sentai Dairanger, the White Ranger is called the KibaRanger and his alter ego is actually a nine-year old boy.
Alternate Tommy Oliver head included.
As usual, Hasbro does great stuff with their patented “Face Print” technology. The sculpt closely matches actor Jason David Frank’s likeness.
Not bad a start for the new Lightning Collection series from Hasbro. I do find pulling out the hands to be a bit nerve-wracking, as the pegs are quite long and requires more force than usual to pull out. I hope this won’t lead to breakage down the road as the plastic ages.
Admittedly, I will be only getting the original MMPR cast since that’s the show I’m most familiar with out of all the Ranger series and I only got into the figures to compliment the SOC Megazord since the S.H. Figuarts figures are just too insanely priced nowadays to backtrack.
I do hope Hasbro somehow manages to make Bioman figures though, that would be a dream come true.
