Knight Rider x Transformers Autobot Agent Knight
Knight Industries Two Thousand (K.I.T.T. for short) was the partner for Michael Knight from the highly popular 1982 TV series “Knight Rider”. Funded and maintained by the privately-owned FLAG (Foundation for Law And Government) by dying billionaire Wilton Knight, this particularly iconic Pontiac Firebird Trans Am was modified with an onboard AI and equipped with bulletproof armor and windshields, and “turbo boost” function that allowed it to travel at insane speeds. The crime-fighting duo would go on adventures all over southern California, taking on criminals from all walks of life.
The electronics require 3x AAA batteries to run. Batteries are not included.
Pushing the button the hood activates the electronics.
K.I.T.T. has the following phrases included with the electronics. They cycle through every time you push the button.
-I am the voice of Knight Industries Two Thousand’s microprocessor. K.I.T.T. for easy reference. KITT if you prefer.
-(Starting engine noises followed by the iconic light bar sound)
-Hold on, this could be a bit bumpy (activates turbo boost sounds).
-(Iconic light bar sound)
-(Brake screech noises)
-Are you sure this is the right way? (more brake screeching sounds) Very well.
-(Light bar sounds) Thank you, Sir.
-(If left alone for a few seconds) K.I.T.T. signing off.
-Holding the power button activates a secret mode, which just lights up the light bar without any audio for about two minutes and then shuts off.
Other features of the vehicle mode include opening doors and flip-up headlights.
Lastly, Agent Knight’s weapons can be stored away underneath by pegging them into slots on his legs.
Similar to Michael, Agent Knight’s bio lists him as a young loner on a crusade to champion the cause of the innocent, the helpless, the powerless, in a world of criminals who operate above the law.
The figure’s face is sculpted to resemble Michael’s (actor David Hasselhoff) features. Its shades are a homage to the oversized sunglasses Michael would sometimes wear while driving on the show.
The figure’s “pants” are painted blue to recreate the look of “jeans”, which Michael Knight wore in the TV series.
Agent Knight stands roughly 7 inches tall.
Agent Knight comes with only three accessories. His two weapons and a wristwatch communicator. Which Michael Knight had to communicate with K.I.T.T. when they’re separated.
Agent Knight comes with a pistol
For heavier firepower, the set gives Agent Knight a machine gun.
Both weapons can be mounted on his “door wings” when not in use.
Overall, I love it! It’s really great to see Hasbro digging into iconic TV franchises from the 80s and giving them the Transformers crossover treatment. While Agent Knight is a bit taller than most crossover figures (he’s even taller than most Masterpiece Carbots), it still looks super cool. The addition of lights and phrases from K.I.T.T. just raise the bar to the next level!
I hope we get the A-Team van or the Airwolf helicopter next. Lots of nostalgia there.
