Soul of Chogokin Gx-105D Mazinger Z Kakumei Shinka Damaged Ver.

Thankfully, the manual is an all-new print and not a reuse of the Gx-105 Mazinger Z manual.
Jet Pileder
The boosters on the sides of the Jet Pileder can be rotated to recreate its iconic landing sequence. Too bad this version of the Jet Pileder does not come with any flip out wings.
Battle damaged Mazinger Z
After finally defeating Dr. Hell, Koji Kabuto and Mazinger Z don’t have time to rest as a new threat to mankind surfaces from the evil forces of the Mycenae Empire! Attacking with warriors much stronger and deadlier than Mazinger Z has ever faced before, the Mycenae Empire proves too much for the hero.
The figure features a LOT of new parts, almost the entire body is new tooling with the exception of the back part of the upper back, the back part of the legs and the feet, those pieces are reuses from the Gx-105 Mazinger Z.

Mazinger Z puts up a brave front when it first encounters the Mycenae, but even its vaunted, nearly indestructible “Chogokin” armor alloy easily becomes easily damaged from the incredibly strong attacks coming from the new enemies.

Lol… even Mazinger’s butt has battle damage. Talk about screen accuracy!
Missile Punch!
The set requires you to extract the front panel of Mazinger Z’s belly to reveal the launcher inside.

Even Mazinger Z’s wings, the Jet Scrander, became severely damaged in Mazinger Z’s final battle against the Mycenae warriors.

Scrander Cross!

Even after suffering incredible damage, Koji and Mazinger Z refused to give up the fight, vowing to struggle until the very end!
As bad as it looks, Mazinger Z could still fire off its Breast Fire finishing attack, albeit at lower intensity due to the lacking left heat sink.
Rocket Punch!
An alternate all-new “closed elbow” piece is included to recreate Mazinger’s bicep look when it loses its arm after firing its last Rocket Punch.

Mazinger Z’s most perilous moment in the movie (and series)… having lost its right arm and sustaining massive damage. All hope seemed lost…

Mazinger Z is rescued at the last second thanks to the timely arrival of Great Mazinger, humanity’s newest protector. The set includes a Mazinger Blade for Mazinger Z to wield.

The Good
-Gx-105D Damaged Mazinger Z stands roughly 7 inches and weighs 252 Grams.
-Diecast parts include:
–Sections of the torso
–Legs
–Feet
-A magnet gimmick for the Pileder to dock with Mazinger’s head (same as with the Gx-70 Mazinger Z).
-Ball jointed design for the mid-torso sections for more dynamic posing.
-Drop down hip joints design! No more silly skirt plate parts swapping.
-Firing Rocket Punches! Plus, they’re not on hair triggers and actually stay on until you press down hard on the firing button.
-Beautifully done retooling for the damaged parts, practically 80% of the figure is new tooling!
-Manual is all-new and not a reuse of Gx-105’s manual.
The Bad
-Same as with the standard Gx-105 Mazinger Z Kakumei Shinka, no display base included in the set.
-No styrofoam tray (as with the other Kakumei Shinka Ver. releases).
-Parts swapping still necessary for the Missile Punch gimmick.
-Same as with the Gx-105 retail version, no ratchet joints for this figure.
-Jet Pileder is missing its wings. This will be rectified in the upcoming Gx-117 Powered Up version of Kakumei Shinka Mazinger Z.
The Ugly
No QC issues with my copy, thankfully.
Overall, I love it! While technically a retool of Gx-105 Kakumei Shinka Mazinger Z, this release has so much new, intricate and detailed tooling that it’s practically an entirely new figure unto itself. The sculpt work is really well done and it looks almost like Mazinger stepped out of the screen from the “Mazinger Z vs. The Great General of Darkness” 1974 movie.
Between this release or the Gx-70D, I think I prefer this one. The new screen-accurate proportions and focused details showing the damage all over Mazinger Z’s body (you can even make out Koji in the Pileder!) really catch your eye. I just wish it came with a display base or something to highlight it better on a display shelf.
This set was released as a P-Bandai Exclusive.
