Transformers Masterpiece MP-60 Ginrai

I love how we get an actual manual this time around instead of the super folded “single sheet of paper” manual we usually get with Masterpiece Transformers.

Ginrai
A native of Nagano, Japan, Ginrai discovers a pair of bracelets inside of his rental truck while working as a trucker in the United States. The bracelets enabled Ginrai to become a Godmaster and combine with his Transtector truck and transform into an Autobot.

With his cab section. Too bad the Powermaster figure can’t quite ride inside as he’s too big. The MPG-09 Super Ginrai comes with a smaller, static figure that can be placed inside the cab.
Ginrai’s Superconducting rifles can be plugged into the back section of the cab (when the trailer isn’t hitched).

God on! Transform! Ginrai transforms into the front engine block of the unit, unlocking its transformation.
Ginrai’s Transtector was originally created for the Optimus Prime, which explains its resemblance to the Autobot leader. After it, along with other Transtectors, were stolen by Devil Z and hidden away on Earth, it was only through chance and fate that it would wind up in the hands of young, heroic human.
The figure’s deco is based on the original G1 vintage toy’s color scheme, which explains the red eyes. The MPG-09 Super Ginrai’s deco is based on the cartoon models.

Lol.. the front and back are both truck cabs. Wild!
Unlike the vehicle mode (you won’t find any Autobot symbol markings anywhere when in vehicle mode), one can easily see the markings on Ginrai’s right shoulder.
While it’s never really revealed or shown in the Masterforce Anime from back in the 1990s, you can somewhat make out the Autobot Matrix of Leadership underneath Ginrai’s chest windows. It does not seem to be removable though.
I can’t say I’m a fan of the execution of the ab sections. The chrome-plated section comes up short to give clearance for the ab crunch joint, but the gap sure sticks out like a sore thumb.
Ginrai stands roughly 7.25 inches tall and weighs 204 grams.
Ginrai’s front cab section (robot mode backpack) is actually diecast. Giving the figure some added weight. Be careful not to scrape the paint finish when transforming the figure.
I love the poseability of this figure! It’s a HUGE leap over how little articulation the original vintage Ginrai toy had.

For weaponry, Ginrai comes with his iconic Superconducting rifles.
Dual wield!

Lastly, the set comes with effects parts that can be plugged into the rifles.

Overall, pretty good. The figure sports some really good articulation and the presence of diecast parts was a pleasant surprise.
Negatives-wise I do find that Godmaster Ginrai tends to pop free often whenever you transform the figure.
Admittedly, this set pales in comparison to the more “complete” MPG-09 Super Ginrai set. I actually only picked this one up as it is touted as the “last” Masterpiece figure in Takara Tomy’s long-standing Transformers Masterpiece toyline after 21 years (the MP line started way back in 2003 and ended in 2024. geez… I suddenly feel old… ) and upcoming Masterpiece figures will be continuing under the MPG banner going forward.
