Marvel Legends Retro Carded Quicksilver

The son of the Mutant supervillain Magneto, Pietro Maximoff is the fastest mutant alive. Capable of running up to speeds of Mach 10, Quicksilver can move faster than the speed of thought.

The head sculpt is a definite improvement over the one from the Family Matters 3-pack with Scarlet Witch and Magneto.

The new body also features pinless joints now.

Too bad Hasbro didn’t include any “running pose” hands or a proper base to hold Pietro while he’s in a running pose, though. That would’ve made this set perfect.

Smug and usually impatient, it’s been shown that he’s that way due to his speed and rapid thought, it’s like he’s always waiting for the rest of the world to catch up.

Originally joining Magneto’s Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, Quicksilver and his twin sister, the Scarlet Witch, eventually see the error of their ways and join the Avengers, becoming heroes instead of villains.

Recently, after decades of being introduced as the son of Magneto, things have been retconned into Pietro originally being just an ordinary human boy, not a mutant born with powers, until he was captured and experimented on by the High Evolutionary, granting him his super speed powers in the process. He actually has no biological ties to Magneto, apparently. I’m not sure how well this will hold up over time.

Overall, I am very happy with this release. It’s definitely an improved version over the one from the 3-pack with Magneto and I’m glad I was still able to track one down this late in. I’m surprised Hasbro didn’t do a blue redeco for this version of the figure as a variant for a quick buck. Admittedly, I’ll still pick that one up if they do.
