Wolverine (Xtreme X-men)

Based on Earth-616 Wolverine’s appearance in the X-Treme X-men books, which featured a particular roster of X-men led by Storm on globe-trotting adventures.

The body is a retool of Retro Carded Wolverine with new legs.

I can’t say I’m a fan of the head sculpt, I guess the hair could’ve been done better.

I guess it’s cool that we finally get a Wolverine figure with a pointing hand.

.. as well as an open palm hand. Interesting…

I kind of wish Hasbro included an alternate head. Lol… Wolverine looks like he’s yelling all the time here.

Nightcrawler (X-Force)

Kurt Wagner is a mutant with the ability to teleport instantaneously over vast distances. While is appearance can be striking, Nightcrawler has a very kind soul and often times serves as the voice of reason when the X-men are need someone to talk to.

The figure reuses the X-men ’97 Nightcrawler body, repainted in X-force colors and comes with a new head.

The figure sports Nightcrawler’s usual prehensile tail, which allow him to grab onto things with it.

Too bad the tail isn’t poseable or has any bendable wire inside. It’s just kind of there.

Aside from his body’s color (which is actually dark purple fur), Nightcrawler also has only three fingers on his hands.

Thanks to his unique morphology, Kurt can cling to ceilings and walls thanks to the microscopic suction cups on the pads of his hands and feet.

Nightcrawler also is incredibly agile.

The figure comes with his sword. Nightcrawler often fancies himself as a swashbuckling hero, thanks to all the adventure books he read as he was growing up. He loves to fence against his opponents when he can.

Lastly, the set comes with an alternate “angry” head for Nightcrawler.

Gambit (Age of Apocalypse)

In the Age of Apocalypse timeline, Gambit is the leader of a gang of thieves called the “X-Ternals”. The group raids outposts in Apocalypse’s regime to help human survivors. Still maintaining close ties to Magneto, he is one of Magnus’ closest friends, helping out the X-men when he can.

The head sculpt for Gambit is pretty decent.

Gambit comes with his extendable Bo staff as his only accessory.

It’s a shame this Gambit doesn’t come with his usual playing card effects pieces. At least he comes with a left hand that is ready to hold some cards, so feel free to recycle the card accessory from other Marvel Legends Gambit figures.

Cyclops (X-Factor)

After Charles Xavier allows Magneto become the leader of the X-men, the original five members of the team leave in disgust to form their own team. Starting up as “X-Factor Investigations”, the heroes pose as “mutant-hunters for hire”. The team is then able to save several mutants under the pretense of “capturing” them. They then secretly teach the mutants to control their powers and to be safely reintegrate them into society.

I can’t say I like the head sculpt on Cyclops here. It seems like the “dome” part of his head is too small in terms of proportion to the rest of his noggin.

The set comes with optional left hand for recreating his usual Optic Blast pose.

He also comes with an alternate head that allows his Optic Blast effects parts to be plugged into his visor.

I love how the effect comes in two pieces, at least you can have the option to not have such a huge piece plugged in all the time if you’re limited on space.

With the full effects piece.

Marrow (Marvel Vs. Capcom)

A mutant with the ability to grow her bones into weapons and armor, Sarah was adopted and raised by the Morlocks. Tough, durable and agile, Marrow is able to survive insane damage to her body due to her healing factor.

This look is based on her appearance in the Marvel vs. Capcom fighting games.

Since she can use her skeletal structure as melee weapons, her body can heal almost instantly whenever she draws her “blades” out, similar to Wolverine’s healing factor.

Due to her body’s unique physiology, she even has two hearts to help compensate for the physical strain of always having to rapidly grow her bones into weapons.

I gotta say, the headsculpt on this figure is really, really good. Hats off to the Marvel Legends sculpt team. They always seem to nail female facial features right.

Husk

Paige Guthrie is the younger sister of the X-man, Cannonball (Samuel Guthrie). As member of the Mutant Superhero team, Generation X, she has the ability to shed her skin to reveal a different composition underneath. She can sometimes turn into metal, stone or even energy forms, depending on what she needs.

The headsculpt seems a bit off here, as she is supposed to be in her teens, I think. She looks kinda old.

Due to the design of her hair, she can’t really look left or right.

She comes with … uh.. a piece of her skin torn from her face as an accessory, to showcase her transforming abilities.

Lol.. that’s gotta be one of the strangest powers on an X-team member.

Her “shedded” form head has slightly better hair design, but still somewhat limits her head rotation.

Fabian Cortez

As the leader of Magneto’s Acolytes, Fabian Cortez served as the right hand of Magneto prior to his betrayal of his master. Also known as the mutant supervillain “The Power”, Fabian has the mutant ability to temporarily supercharge other mutant’s powers, as well as temporarily depower other mutants in his vicinity.

Due to his ability to enhance other mutants, Fabian eventually makes them grow dependent on him, to the point where he can influence their decisions (such as what happened to Magneto).

While the figure sports a ponytail, it sadly lacks any poseability.

The set also comes with effects parts for Fabian.

Aside from enhancing and taking other mutants’ powers, he also has the ability to temporarily copy the powers of any mutants near him.

Nemesis

William Rolfson is the son of the evil mutant, Apocalypse and a former Famine Horseman of Apocalypse. He is extremely powerful, capable of generating radioactive plasma. Nemesis/ Genocide must wear an Armored Exo-Shell to help keep his powers in check. The suit is also able to increase William’s strength and withstand high levels of external damage from his opponents.

This hose can actually come undone at both ends, so make sure not to lose it.

I really like the textured-design look for the suit.

Standing at almost 9 inches tall, the figure is pretty tall.

The helmet is removable so you can pose the head if you wish.

The BAF comes is supposed to come with an alternate left hand as its only accessory.

Genocide’s right arm is a cannon that allows him to focus his bio-furnace energy and shoot the radioactive plasma as a projectile. The plasma’s heat temperature is said to be equal to the core of the sun on one occasion. Deadly stuff.

The complete wave

Overall, a pretty decent set. I actually don’t care much for the BAF as it isn’t the Earth-616 version of the character. But at least the actual wave lineup is pretty good. A satisfying mix of old and never-before released characters to fill out rosters in the collection.
