Marvel Legends Mini-Comic Wave
-Banshee
-Rom
-Spider-man (Miles Morales)
-Iron Man (Ultimates)
-Adam Warlock
-Wolverine (Daken)

Sean Cassidy is a mutant with the ability to generate “sonic screams” from his lungs and vocal cords. Codenamed “Banshee”, his control over his power is so precise that he can “adjust” its effect from simply stunning a living target to outright disintegrating it. A skilled detective as well as master marksman, he has been called in to help out the X-men on several occasions.

The figure is a straight up redeco of the Banshee figure from the X-men 3-pack.

Lol.. that headsculpt, the facial features really scream “Scottish”.

Same as before, the figure’s body has fixed points where the cape is tied down.

The set comes with an alternate “screaming” head for when Banshee activates his powers.

Banshee’s “sonic scream” powers also allow him to fly at the speed of sound.

Lastly, in keeping with the theme of the wave, Banshee comes with a mini-comic of his first appearance in Giant-size X-men #1.

At first, I thought the comics were actual printed micro-copies of the originals. Turns out they’re just soft pieces of plastic with printed covers. Still, I guess it’s a cool thing to have, as opposed to the just having only extra hands for accessories, which seems to be a thing for most Marvel Legends nowadays.

Rom

Originally human-like in appearance, Rom hails from the planet Galador. Volunteering to become a cyborg “Spaceknight” in order to protect his planet from the Dire Wraiths, Rom’s adventures would eventually lead him to arrive on Earth 200 years later.

After being transplanted into a cyborg body, Rom’s original body is stored away until his mission is complete back on his home planet of Galador. His new body is covered in an armor called Plandanium. The material is so tough, it can even withstand damage from Wolverine’s Adamantium claws.

Rom comes with two accessories, his “energy analyzer” and “neutralizer”. Admittedly, before this write-up, I honestly had no idea which was which, as I have never read an issue of Rom.

Rom’s Neurtralizer, an advanced weapon capable of banishing Dire Wraiths to limbo. It is set to work only when Rom is the one handling it, anyone else gets a massively unpleasant feedback charge.

An effects part is included with the set.

A side effect of the weapon is it leaves a trail of ash whenever a Dire Wraith is ported away to limbo. To the uninformed eye, this would appear as though Rom vaporized his unsuspecting target, resulting in Rom becoming wanted for murder on more than one occasion.

Rom’s Analyzer, this device allows Rom to see through the Dire Wraiths’ disguises. It can also be used to analyze various forms of energy.

The effects part can also be plugged into the Analyzer

Lastly, Rom comes with his first appearance comic, Rom #1.

Spider-man (Miles Morales)

After being bitten by a radioactive spider, Miles Morales gains powers similar to Spider-man. Originally only interested in a normal life, Miles rejects the powers and responsibility of becoming a hero. After his world’s Spider-man is killed fighting the Green Goblin, Miles is guilt-ridden and wishes to honor his predecessor’s legacy by becoming the new Spider-man.

The set comes with an alternate “unmasked” Miles Morales head attached by default.

Personally, I find the headsculpt a bit too mature-looking for a kid’s who’s supposed to be just a grade-schooler at this point in his life.

I was originally planning to keep this figure sealed, or sell him off. But after checking, it seems that this is actually the first “classic” Miles figure we’ve gotten in the ML line. The previous release was based on the Gamerverse series (based on the Sony Spider-man games), which has a different scale and is taller than he should be for a high schooler. So this one is going to be my default Miles going forward.

Miles comes with “wall-crawling” alternate right hand. Just the right… sigh…

Some fancy poses with a little help from a Third Party display base.

While we do get the web-shooting hands. The set doesn’t come with any weblines for Miles.

He also comes with a copy of his comic, but I forgot to take a pic of him holding it. Whoops

Iron Man (Ultimates)

Based on Iron Man’s armor in the Ultimates universe. Earth-1610’s Antonio “Tony” Stark originally had an inoperable brain tumor with only six months left to live. He decides to use his remaining time to help others through philanthropy and the use of his high-tech weapons and armor.

For the new suit’s design, comics artist Mike Allred went with a slightly less human-looking suit for Iron Man, with the feet and helmet looking more alien than the conventional Iron Man armors.

Same as with his mainstream counterpart, the Iron Man armor comes with several weapons built into it.

Surprisingly, we don’t get any Repulsor effects pieces here! I guess we can use the effects parts from the other various Iron Man figures, as there are holes in the palms of the figure for them. Still, it was something of a surprise to see Hasbro cutting back even more on this line. Sigh…

The helmet is also not removable, so we don’t get an un-maskable Tony Stark here.

Using a Third Party stand to get more bang for the buck for this guy.

Man.. we sure have come a loooooong way since Hasbro released this figure in its first wave of Marvel Legends after taking over from Toybiz way back in 2007. Almost 20 years ago…

The figure comes with a mini-comic of his first issue.

Adam Warlock

Created by Earth scientists to be the perfect human being, Adam Warlock would eventually go on find purpose in his existence by protecting the universe from massive galactic threats posed by Thanos and even an evil part of himself.

Due to the design of his collar and his thick hair, the articulation for the head tends to get difficult.

He comes with his staff.

Naturally, he also comes with the Infinity Gauntlet.

As the wielder of the Soul Gem, Adam Warlock gains the power to manipulate others. He can also use the gem to access a pocket universe within the it where souls taken by the gem reside.

Aside from the Soul Gem, Adam also has his own powers. As being created to be the highest form of man, Adam’s physical structure is denser than a normal human’s, granting him super strength and endurance, as well as increased awareness to even the cosmic and spiritual.

Adam Warlock is also even able to manipulate various forms of cosmic energy, allowing him to even manipulate time and even resurrect the dead by transferring their consciousness into deceased bodies.

As part of the 2008 Target Exclusive Red Hulk series, the original Adam Warlock figure in the Hasbro line is practically 20 years old at this point, gosh.

Adam comes with a copy of Infinity Gauntlet #1.

Wolverine (Daken)

The son of Wolverine and his deceased wife, Itsu, Akihiro was raised by Romulus to hate his father. Becoming a trained killing machine with the same abilities as his father, he adopts the codename Daken. He joins Norman Osborn’s Dark Avengers out of spite for his old man.

The set comes with an alternate unmasked head for Daken.

Lol… yeah, I don’t think I’ll ever get used to this hairstyle.

Like his father, Daken has three claws. But his claws pop out differently compared to Logan’s.

To distinguish Daken from his father when he’s in costume, you can clearly make out his left arm tattoos.

While he does posses Logan’s healing factor, he does need to focus for it to activate, unlike Logan’s which works automatically.

A unique secret ability Akihiro has is the ability to manipulate the pheromones in others, causing sudden changes in their emotions, dulling their senses and even making them sluggish in combat.

He comes with a mini-comic of Dark Avengers #1.

The full wave

I have to say, I really like the selection for this entire wave. I’m glad that we’re finally getting updated versions of several figures that are practically 20 years old. It took them long enough. Plus we’re finally getting characters that have never been included in the line as well. Now to wish Hasbro included more accessories with Marvel Legends, instead of just extra hands (remember when Toybiz included actual comics AND display backgrounds??).
