G.i. Joe Classified # 150 Heavy Duty

The set comes with 8 mini-rockets and 8 effects parts.

As one of the G.i. Joe team’s Heavy Ordinance Troopers, Lamont Morris usually dives into battle wearing the “Man-Portable Heavy Weapons System” to help clear out heavily-fortified enemy positions. The system is somewhat complex to use and requires an ambidextrous operator who can work both of their hands independently at the same time. The gear is also quite heavy so it requires someone with a lot of muscle to lug it across the battlefield while under intense enemy fire.

In the Joe mythos, Heavy Duty is often noted to be Roadblock’s cousin. While not exactly a top chef like Marvin (Roadblock), Lamont here is a decent cook as well, plus he’s very talented musically.

Pretty cool printed detailing on Heavy Duty’s cap.

He comes with two knives; both are sheathed on his left leg.

Too bad he does not come with a sidearm. Then again, what would he need it for? Lol..

For extra options, the set includes an extra “capless” head for Heavy Duty. Pretty good detailed sculpt work here.

To help complete his look, he comes with range-finding headset.

He also comes with headphones to protect his ears, as well as keep in touch with Joe command when he’s in the field.

Aside from his Man-Portable Heavy Weapons System, he also comes with a LOT of grenades on his belts, too! Too bad they’re not removable.

Heavy Duty’s Man-Portable Heavy Weapons System. This set up requires some assembly out of the box, but once assembled, it looks crazy impressive.

The ammo belt feeds into both rotary cannons.

The belt traverses the insides of the backpack to link up both sides.

More printed detailing. I love it!

Laser cannons

Detachable M202 Quad Burst missile launchers.

To load up Heavy Duty in the weapons system you’ll have to open up the front sections.

When mounted with the weapons system, you can only equip either the range finder gear or the headphones one at a time. You can’t fit both in due to the lack of space.

“Lock and Load!”

If this was a real thing, I cannot image the strain the user must be under to carry all that load, not to mention having to deal with the constant vibration from the firing weapons.

I love how the front protective plate is all dinged up. It adds a layer of detailing to the figure, as opposed to a pristine-looking piece.

You can opt to plug in the effects pieces into the guns, it’s not quite the desired effect, but it’s close enough to get the job done.

But, of course, the real purpose of the effects parts are to make the missiles seem like they’re firing out of the launchers.

Lastly, the detachable M202 Quad Burst missile launchers can be removed and used independently from the weapons system.
Hmm.. John Matrix vibes (from the Schwarzenegger movie “Commando”).

Overall, an insanely impressive set! I didn’t think much of this when it was first announced, as Heavy Duty didn’t really stand out much for me back in the old DIC-era days, but holy cow! Did Hasbro make this guy incredible! There’s so much stuff in this set, I can hardly believe it!
I really, really hope the line keeps up this level of detail. The Joe Classified line is in a class of its own. Easily the best collector line Hasbro’s got going right now.

This figure marks the third DIC-era character to be added to the Joe roster, the first were Nunchuck, followed by Big Ben (Night Force).
Hasbro’s oddball internal pre-order codename for Heavy Duty is “Daria”.
