Marvel Legends MCU Sentry and John Walker

John Walker (U.S. Agent)

John Walker was formerly a decorated US Army Captain chosen to be the new Captain America after Steve Rogers retired. After being driven to kill a Flag-Smasher in broad daylight, Walker was dismissed from service and later takes on the new anti-hero persona of U.S. Agent.

The figure’s body is a reuse of the older MCU U.S. Agent buck, with an all-new headsculpt.

Same as before, the figure comes with a sculpted gun he can’t use on his right thigh.

The new headsculpt is pretty good.

His shield features the same working hinge as with most Marvel Legends shields.

After losing the right to wield the shield, John Walker creates a new one from strong metal, but not quite as durable as the Vibranium shield that the original Captain America uses.

I really wish Hasbro included the “bent” shield that Sentry warped in the later part of the movie. It’s still the same shield U.S. Agent uses even after two years at the end of the Thunderbolts movie. That would’ve been a nice bonus here.

It’s a shame we don’t get the unmasked head that came with the blue suit U.S, Agent. That was a pretty good headsculpt of actor Wyatt Russel. It would’ve cost Hasbro next to nothing to include it, as the sculpt is already there.

The Sentry

Robert “Bob” Reynolds is a former meth addict who took part in an experiment to create the ultimate superhero. While gaining the ability to fly, have superhuman strength, speed and various telekinetic powers and psionic abilities and even manipulate matter, the Sentry is deemed as a failure, as Bob’s mental health issues making the Sentry incredibly unstable and uncontrollable. This makes him the biggest threat to everyone.

The headsculpt for actor Lewis Pullman is pretty spot-on IMHO.

I gotta admit, I was really impressed with the way the Sentry’s uniform looked in the movie when he first showed up in full gear. The design was really good and didn’t look anywhere as corny as it does in the comics.

Apart from his incredible physical strength, the Sentry can also manipulate states of matter, such as even being able to grab Ghost in her intangible form and force her to become tangible. He is also able to stop bullets in mid-air with his telekinesis.

Bob is also able to generate heat with heat vision, superheating John Walker’s gun and even Bucky’s prosthetic arm!

Of course, his greatest power is unleashed when he becomes controlled by his darker tendencies and becomes the evil Void.

Overall, a pretty good set. I loved the Sentry in the Thunderbolts movie and while the movie didn’t really rock my world like previous Avengers films, it did provide decent entertainment, unlike most of the other MCU offerings after Endgame.
I really wish the set included an unmasked John Walker head and his bent shield, as it’s really unlikely we’ll be getting another John Walker figure anytime soon. Sadly, it is what it is.
I’m still on the fence as to whether I want to pick up the other Thunderbolts 2-pack with Widow and Red Guardian, as I’m sort of OK with the previous versions of the same characters already released. Maybe if the set went on deep clearance or something, we’ll see.
