Transformers Masterpiece MPG-14S Godbomber

As expected, the box for the giftset is big!! Spanning roughly about 25.5 x 17.5 x 5.5 inches in dimension.

Main box for the MPG-14S Giftset

The inner box for the giftset comes with a “filler” carton to fill the space for the MPG-09 Super Ginrai, as well as a box of parts for the “Protoype” Godbomber and display stand.

With the MPG-09 Super Ginrai stowed into the giftset box with the MPG-14 Godbomber.

Main MPG-14 Godbomber box

Godbomber truck mode

The alt mode can actually fly, just simply swing the wings down and rotate the boosters.

The effects parts can be plugged into the wings.

The set comes with non-poseable “boarding figures” of the Junior Headmasters, Minverca, Shuta and Cab.

Godbomber’s front cab can open up so the kids can ride in.

Simply just tab their foot bases into the back wall. Be warned, it can get tricky to get Shuta in due to his slot being much lower than the others.

Once closed up, you can barely see the kids inside though due to the dark windows.

Godbomber Robot mode.

Created by the Autobots to power up Super Ginrai for the coming arrival of the Decepticon super-weapon, Black Zarak, the Godbomber is a non-sentient drone animated from Ginrai’s own Chokon Power. He serves as handy partner for Super Ginrai when the battle requires an extra body to help out in combat.

When all three Junior Headmasters are onboard Godbomber, they, too, can bring it to life with their combined Chokon Power when Ginrai is too far from Godbomber.

Fully assembled with the God Cannon mounted on his left shoulder, Godbomber stands roughly 11.5 inches tall.

I really love the headsculpt on this guy!

Articulated fingers!

As Godbomber doesn’t really come with his own rifle. He usually just uses the God Cannon when in combat.

He does occassionally use the cannons mounted on his forearms.

Lastly, for projectile attacks, Godbomber can also fire blasts from nozzle on his left chest panel.

The set also comes with the “God Blade” sword for God Ginrai. Admittedly, he never hard this sword in the Masterforce cartoons. He only wielded this in Victory when he fought against Deathsaurus.

Display base – This is only included with the MPG-14S giftset. The standard version doesn’t come with this.

To attach Godbomber to the display base arm, you will have to open up the backside cover and plug it into the figure from there.

Prototype Godbomber

Parts to recreate “Prototype Godbomber” are included with the MPG-14S set. This design was the original proposed look for Godbomber in the early stages of the toy’s development, before the designers changed it to the final look we are all familiar with in the series and the vintage toyline.

To create this look, you will have to swap the heads, as well as the chest panels on Godbomber.

You can also stow God Ginrai’s shoulder panels into the back of the unit next to the wings.

With the parts equipped, the God Cannon also looks very different from the final version.

In the original concept, the Superconducting rifle was also somewhat designed differently from what we eventually got. Takara Tomy decided to include this as well and you can use it as an additional rifle for Prototype Godbomber to wield.

Naturally, the effects parts can be plugged into the prototype Superconducting rifle as well.

Overall, a pretty great release! The design is solid, the sculpts are all great and the transformation is pretty intuitive. I’m also really glad Takara Tomy included the Junior Headmasters with this set, too, even if they’re just static figures. The option parts to create the original design for this character are also a welcome bonus (but only if you got the MPG-14S set).

Lol… I actually would’ve been happy with the giftset box.
