Marvel Legends Thanos & Psylocke

Thanos

Obsessed with entropy and death, the mad Titan Thanos seeks to complete all six Infinity Stones to erase half the population of the universe in order to earn the affections of the physical embodiment of Mistress Death.

The figure reuses parts from the previous comics-style Thanos figure.

I gotta say, the new headsculpt really looks good!

It’s a bit annoying to see these leftover design elements on the figure from the comics-style buck. It’s understandable, since he is a reuse of the comic-style Thanos figure, but still annoying to see.

Naturally, Thanos comes with the Infinity Gauntlet.

It’s a shame we only get the Infinity Stones on the “snapping” hand. The regular hand doesn’t have the stones.

Torso sculpt issues aside; the figure looks really good. It looks like Thanos stepped out of the video game.

Psylocke

Besty Braddock is the twin sister of Brian “Captain Brittain” Braddock, after her latent mutant psionic abilities surfaced, she is able to use telepathy as well as a wide range of psychic weapons.

I love the new body design for this version of Psylocke, it easily outshines the last version. Both in terms of poseability and proportions.

The set also includes an alternate “wind-swept hair” head for the figure.

Psylocke is able to hold poses from the game almost perfectly, thanks to the new body.

Whenever she uses her psychic powers, Psylocke’s face usually shows a “butterfly image” effect. It’s never been quite clear if this is something only the reader or viewer sees to signify her activating her powers, or if anyone else around her in comic or cartoons can see it.

The effect can only be attached on the “wind-swept hair” head, as it involves attaching it to her ears, sort of like glasses.

“Psy-Flash!”

Just like in the games and comics, Psylocke comes with her iconic Psy-Blade dagger.

Impressively, the set even comes with parts to recreate her Psy-Blade anti-air attack/ Psy-Maelstrom Hyper Combo.

The parts need to be plugged into her alternate pair of hands.

Up against Thanos.

Overall, a pretty great set! I love the new body and face sculpts on Psylocke, plus the pairing with Thanos isn’t too bad either. I was half-worried we would be getting a straight up reissue of the older figure when this was first announced.

While Psylocke and her effects parts are the main draw of this set, Thanos is a pretty good figure by itself, too. It’s a shame we don’t get effects parts or an alternate head for Thanos, as he is supposed to be the big bad in the game, but it is what it is.

I’ll always love the old Marvel Super Heroes fighting game from Capcom. It was just the perfect fighting game for so many decades for me and my friends.

I miss you, Tiong old buddy.
