Transformers Masterpiece MP-59 Rhinox

In beast mode, Rhinox’s ears have some articulation.

Opening jaw.

Lol.. even the tail’s articulated.

Strong, dependable and highly intelligent, Rhinox serves as the team’s strategist and engineer, and more importantly, its moral compass. Tough enough to fight Megatron to a standstill, decisive and brilliant, Rhinox may well be the best member of the Maximal team.

While he may be more than capable to be the leader of the Maximals, Rhinox respects Optimus Primal too much to take the mantle of leadership from him and prefers to stay on the sidelines and serve in a supporting capacity.

There’s supposed to be some light piping gimmick for his eyes, but due to the awkward placement of the “window” at the back of his head, it just can’t quite catch any light to do the effect right.

This results in his eyes looking a little dim and lifeless.

Rhinox stands roughly 7.5 inches tall.

For variety, Rhinox comes with an alternate “angry” face plate.

Lol… taking the face off made me laugh out.

Rhinox comes with this little globe, which is actually meant to be a Transformer Spark, presumably Airazor’s, from the episode “The Spark”.

Another accessory is meant to be this little goober, which appeared in the episode “Chain of Command”. Rhinox used this to try and extract a captured Optimus Primal from the Vok probe. It didn’t work, though. It eventually took blasting Waspinator to a wall to get the job done.

Rhinox also comes with this clear stand adapter, which is meant to allow you to attach Rhinox to a Transformers Masterpiece stand (not included with this set).

Lastly, Rhinox comes with his iconic Gatling Hammers, aka the “Gatling guns of Doom”.

While he does come with two Gatling Hammers, only one is transformable and can fit inside him when in beast mode.

Overall, a pretty good figure. While it looks great in both modes, some of the gimmicks are a bit underwhelming (the light piping eyes for one), also the lack of being able to put both Gatling Hammers inside in beast mode is also a bit of a letdown in terms of engineering.

These reasons, plus the plastic issues I had with Masterpiece BW Megatron made me lose any urgency in getting any more Beast Wars at the time.

Fast forward to two years later and I decided to finally backtrack this mainly due to the release of MP (MPG) Rattrap, just to finally complete the main Maximal team (I’m still holding off on getting Tigertron) in the MP line.

As this figure originally came out in 2024. I count myself lucky I was still able to backtrack one this late in (it’s May 2026 as I write this).
