Transformers Age of the Primes Deluxe Class Blast Off

As the shuttle mode’s dorsal fin comes unattached, you’re supposed to plug it into the side of the left leg.

Seemingly condescending and aloof, Blast Off rarely cares about what others think. Aristocratic with a touch of arrogance, he tends to place himself above other ‘bots and their opinions. In actuality, despite appearances, this Decepticon is quite lonely and would rather be appreciated by his peers instead of being left out in the cold.

Blast Off comes with a pair of blasters. Depending on your take based on the original G1 toy’s accessories, these can either be his iconic X-Ray Lasers or his twin Ionic Cannons.

When not in use, these guns can be stowed away on the sides of his legs.

Yeah, this release easily looks more toon accurate than the previous Combiner Wars/ Unite Wars releases.

Funfact: So, in the IDW Transformers comics run, Blast Off and Onslaught had a “relationship”. I’m not really sure how I feel about that, but that, along with some other “relationships (Rewind and Chromedome)” in the comic book run, caused Hasbro to eventually pull the licensing from IDW and give it to Skybound Comics instead.

Deployable front landing gear.

The X-ray lasers/ Ionic Cannons can be mounted on the underside of his wings in shuttle mode.

Overall, pretty good. It’s definitely an improvement in terms of cartoon accuracy compared to the previous releases, which were just simple retools of existing Combiner Wars releases. At least this figure has intentional tooling for Blast Off.
