Marvel Legends SDCC 2017 Thor Set
The box is very impressive, showing a beautiful “wrap-around” layout of the characters inside. The box spans roughly 11 Inches on it’s longest side and is about 10 Inches tall.
Unfolding the box we get this.
Bor
Bor is Odin’s father and Thor’s Grandfather.
The sculpt and detailing on Bor are incredible.
Bor’s shield is done similar to Captain America’s, which can be pegged onto his back, when not clipped on his arm.
With his axe
Bor looks really, really good.
In the comics, Bor was shortly revived and tricked by Loki into fighting Thor, who didn’t know who he was, this resulted in Bor’s death and Thor’s exile from Asgard.
Malekith the Accursed
Ruler of the Dark Elves of Svartalfheim, Malekith has strong magic-based powers.
Humorously, Dark Elves are weak against iron, which can disrupt their spells. Guess this guy’s in trouble whenever he goes up against IRON man..
Thor (Jane Foster)
A redeco of the Thor from the Ragnarok wave. This version doesn’t really offer anything new.
Her hammer is clear blue plastic this time around.
I think I do prefer this one’s colors over the mass retail verison, plus her knees aren’t bent out of shape like the other one.
Odinson
After losing his “worthiness” to pick up his hammer, Mjolnir, Thor soon also loses his left arm in a battle against Malekith the Accursed. Thor later receives a prosthetic limb made of black uru metal (the same material as his hammer).
With his younger self, from the Ragnarok wave.
Thor now goes back to wielding his old axe from his younger adventure days, Jarnbjorn.
Seriously, I can’t stop seeing “harpoon arm” Aquaman with this figure.
It is later revealed that the words whispered by Nick Fury that caused Thor to be unable to lift the hammer were “Gorr was right”, meaning no god is worthy of mortal admiration. Guess it’s a “mental block” kinda deal, Thor is worthy to pick up his hammer but his self doubt won’t allow him to? Go figure.
Ulik
Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, Ulik is an Asgardian Troll. He really doesn’t have much aside from brute strength and invulnerability.
His knuckle dusters are made from uru metal, same as Thor’s hammer.
This set has some real solid figures. Way better than the previous SDCC figures from the last few years. Big, and impressive tooling.
