G.I. Joe Classified Retro Carded Beach Head
Wayne R. Sneeden is one of the most meticulous and strong-willed Joes around. Occasionally a special instructor for G.I. Joe and a stickler for protocol, Beach Head disapproves of romantic relationships in the Joe organization as they are against regulations. He also has disdain for Joes who don’t live up to their potential. He also really dislikes pacifists (namely, fellow Joe, Lifeline).
The figure reuses some old parts, like the Target Exclusive Beach Head head and Stalker’s torso. The vest seems to be all-new tooling though.
Beach Head served as the fourth in the G.i. Joe chain of command in the Sunbow cartoon series. He dreams of one day being the head honcho of the G.I. Joe team.
Beach Head comes with two knives. Both are sheathed on his right leg.
He also comes with a sidearm with a silencer which can be holstered on his left leg. I suppose this makes him left-handed? Or maybe he’s ambidextrous? The previous release had his gun on his right leg.
His sidearm comes with extended mags in its design. Cool!
The silencer can be equipped on his pistol.
Probably one of the biggest silencers I’ve ever seen on a pistol.. is that how it really goes? I’m used to seeing the small cylinders one usually sees in the movies.
The backpack and crossbow are the same ones from the previous Beach Head release.
Same as before, the crossbow can be stowed away on the backpack.
I really wish they improved the backpack a bit. The peg is ridiculously too short thanks to the thickness of the vest. So it’s barely hanging on there.
Huh… Still no arrow for the crossbow? Same as with the previous Cobra Island release Beach Head.
Beach Head comes with a submachine gun for heavier firepower.
Obligatory “removable ammo magazine” shot.
As a nod to the vintage toy, he also comes with a satchel bag, presumably filled with explosives.
Lastly, Beach Head comes with a pair of grenades (Smoke grenades or flash bangs?). Too bad there’s nowhere to stow them on his vest or backpack.
I was feeling a bit under the weather, so I wasn’t quite up for digging the old Cobra Island figure out for comparison, but here’s an image for something of a comparison
Overall, I love it! While I still love my original Classified Beach Head, this figure captures the classic look of the character better by a mile. Definitely the Beach Head to have if you’re completing the classic Joe roster.
The online leaks supposedly indicated that the oddball codename for Retro Carded Beach Head was “Brainy”. However, the final product release doesn’t indicate this on its shipper box for some reason.
