Chogokin Rubix Cube Robot

The Rubix Cube can be placed on the display base like so.

To maintain the illusion that this is a Rubix Cube, the top portion of the cube can be rotated a bit. That’s about it though, you can’t flip or rotate any of the other sections.

Robot mode

Released last Dec 2024, the Rubix Cube Robot was created in collaboration with Bandai to celebrate 50 years of both the Rubix Cube and the Chogokin Brand. Hence the “50 x 50” text on the side of the box.

Rubix Cube Robot stands roughly 5.75 inches and weighs 445 Grams.

Unfortunately, it does not have any weapon accessories. For “attacks”, the center cube of the toy has a spring-loaded mechanism that allows it to shoot the “square”. Simply press the button the left side of the figure to launch the projectile.

While not really sporting a lot of poseability, at least it’s got the basics down and has more poseability compared to the Chogokin 50th Anniversary Chogokin Robot.

It’s a shame its elbows only flex inwards and can’t flex forwards.

Display Base – the cube’s display base can be unfolded to serve as a display base for robot mode

I find it really puzzling (lol..) that the base platform doesn’t seem to have any grooves or antything to properly lock in the robot mode’s feet to prevent it from going off-balanced. Seems like a wasted opportunity methinks.

For some reason, the manual indicates this pose for the robot mode on the pedestal. It looks super awkward. I don’t get it?

Overall, I like it! I didn’t think much of it at first, but after holding it in person at the Tamashii Nations Pop Up Store event, I was impressed at how insanely heavy it feels when you lift it up, especially when compared to the original Rubix Cube toy that’s made of plastic.

Admittedly, a part of me is let down that the toy couldn’t be played like the actual Rubix Cube, but I suppose that would take an insane amount of engineering to pull that off. I also kind of wish it came with some sort of weapon accessory or something. Even a shield would be nice. Ah, well.
