G.i. Joe Classified # 102 Dreadnok Ripper

I love that Hasbro decided to use the same background for Buzzer and Ripper, with some slight changes.

A member of the mercenary biker group known as the Dreadnoks, Harry Nod (better known as “Ripper”), uses specialized cutting tools to cut through security gates and safes to steal what he wants.

The figure’s design is based on the vintage toy, as opposed to the animation model for the character.

How Ripper actually looked in the cartoons.

I really love the headsculpt on this guy! That facial expression is priceless! It’s a shame the factory didn’t paint his moustache fully on my copy. Grr…

Nice tattoo detailing.

Ripper comes with a sidearm that can be holstered on his right thigh and survival knife that can be sheathed on his webgear.

Even his sidearm has a blade incorporated into it.

Ripper comes with his iconic rifle, complete with bladed end.

As usual, the rifle features a removable ammo magazine.

While Ripper doesn’t come with a backpack, you can peg the rifle onto his webgear.

Lastly, Ripper comes with his hydraulic Power Jaws, for ripping into metal gates and enemy armored units.

Ironically, this weapon never really featured in the cartoons, Ripper was usually seen wielding his bladed rifle as his primary weapon.

Overall, a pretty good release. It’s great that the set included his Power Jaws and the detailed sculpt work on his face is really nice. It is unfortunate that I got a poorly painted head (sigh…), but it is what it is. I was also really hoping Hasbro would include some cans of grape soda and donuts for the Dreadnoks. Oh, well…

If they ever do a retro carded version, I wonder if they’ll redo his head and shirt into the Sunbow Studios animation model style? Hmm…

Hasbro’s oddball codename for Ripper is Fitzgerald.
