G.i. Joe Classified #122 Carl “Doc” Greer

The G.i. Joe team’s original medic, “Doc” is vital in getting wounded Joes the medical assistance they need when they’re in a hostile battlefield. Graduated from Harvard and having completed his residency at Johns Hopkins, Doc is one of the best at what he does. An avowed pacifist, Doc has sworn off using any weapons used for killing.

Naturally, Doc’s helmet and eyewear is removable in the Joe Classified line.

Doc’s helmet comes complete with pills, too bad they’re not removable. Lol.. time to get the Joes hooked on pain meds?
Doc comes with his iconic green-tinted glasses (we actually never see him take off his specs in the old cartoons).
Doc’s vest comes with removable “pouches”. Feel free to reposition the packs on his vest to any different spot, they’re interchangeable, even the flare holster.
Doc also comes with a flare gun for signaling emergency airlifts for the Joes.

As a pacifist, Doc doesn’t carry lethal firearms. He does, however, bring a taser along in case he ever comes across any Cobras about to finish of wounded Joes.
The flare gun can be holstered on his vest, while the taser can be holstered on his right hip.
Last, but not least, Doc comes with a stretcher for carrying the wounded.
It folds up and can be pegged into his back as a backpack.

Admittedly though, the stretcher tends to be a bit finicky when opened up, due to the hinge joint. I really think it should have been designed better, or at least not be foldable?
Sadly, in the G.i. Joe Marvel Comics continuity, Doc would be killed in the line of duty after being captured. He is executed by a S.A.W. Viper who opens fire on the captured Joes, killing Doc, Thunder, Crankcase and Heavy Metal.
Overall, pretty decent. Doc was always present in the early days of the Sunbow G.i. Joe cartoons and served as the team’s medical specialist, prior to the arrival of Lifeline in the show. While not a member of the “original 13” and mostly was a background character in the comics and cartoons, Doc nonetheless played an important role on the team.
Hasbro had previously used the oddball codename “George” for Carl “Doc” Greer pre-orders, as a throwback to the Hanna-Barbera “The Jetsons” paternal figure. But the codename was not indicated on the shipper box for the figure when it was finally released.
