G.i. Joe Classified #139 Raptor

A tax consultant with an obsession for falconry, Raptor was recruited into Cobra in order to breed stronger birds of prey to use against Cobra’s enemies (namely, G.i. Joe).

Raptor’s headgear can be removed.
Pretty good head sculpt I must say.

For standard weaponry, Raptor just comes with a knife that can be sheathed on his right leg, and a sidearm that can be holstered on his left side.

In the vintage toyline, Raptor came with a simple cloth wing suit in order to properly set up his “persona”. In the Classified line, Hasbro decided to upgrade him to a more realistic “flight pack”, complete with steel-tipped wings.

To make Raptor appear more deadly, like a bird of prey, he comes armed with a pair of claw weapons.

I find the claws difficult to get into place on his hands. It’s very annoying.

Lastly, Raptor comes with his pet falcon. It’s a shame we don’t get a fully poseable falcon like with Spirit and Freedom.

Overall, not too shabby. While the figure is definitely an improvement over the classic simple “bird suit”, I do wish Hasbro gave this guy some better weapons. I also wish they included a proper falcon for him to hang out with, as opposed to just a simple, motionless accessory.
The newly redesigned articulated wings are really nice, plus the details for his headgear are really done well, too.
Hmm… now that I think about it, a lot of the Cobra “unique” characters (non-troopers) have been done and only a few are left. It’s amazing how far this line has come after just a handful of years.

Raptor’s oddball codename when it first appeared on pre-orders is Frankenstone, another reference to a really old and mostly forgotten Hanna-Barbera cartoon from the 1970s.
