G.i. Joe Classified # 154 Blowtorch

Timothy P. Hanrahan is the Joe team’s original flamethrower specialist. As one of the few who is familiar with all incendiary devices used by the military, he knows the importance of respecting fire and its destructive properties, as he experiences it firsthand.

In the Sunbow Joe cartoons, he was voiced by Michael Bell, the same fellow who voiced Duke. He spoke with an Irish accent.

Blowtorch comes with his sidearm.

The headsculpt sure reminds me of actor Lee Majors. Alternately, he kinda also looks like Ace McCloud from the Centurions.

Blowtorch comes with his classic helmet, as well as a wearable clear facemask.

His vest features a rebreather attached to it. The hose from his mask attaches to this box.

I love that the design team decided to make his mask transparent, as opposed to how it looked on the 3.75 scale figures with the painted visor.

The hose for the flamethrower plugs into the backpack “tanks”.

The flamethrower has a small flame effects part attached to it by default.

All geared up!

The set comes with 3 different flame effects parts for the blowtorch. These are the same parts we got from Dreadnok Torch.

Recently, I watched the John Wick movie spinoff, the Ballerina. There was a scene where she used a flamethrower to dispatch various enemies. It was pretty intense. I can’t imagine how the stunt people managed to pull off everything that went down in that scene without serious injury.

Overall, another great update to a classic Joe team member. The details are pretty top notch as usual from the Hasbro design team. Plus, the idea to go with a clear mask this time for Blowtorch is a nice added detail we never really got for this guy before this release. The Classified design team just never fails to impress.

On a side note, it’s a shame we never got to see Blowtorch and Barbecue interact with each other on the old show. The flamethrower and the fireman together would’ve made for an interesting buddy comedy situation.

Hasbro’s pre-order codename for the Blowtorch is “Bart”, based on the Simpsons character.
