G.i. Joe Classified # 155 Darklon
A distant cousin of clan Destro, the Darklon clan earned their vast fortune from mercenary work and investment banking. As the ruler of the country of Darklonia and motivated purely by greed, Darklon sells his army’s services to the highest bidder.
So I guess those things on his leg in the vintage figure were supposed to be big grenades for a grenade launcher… that he doesn’t come with..?
Darklon comes with a revolver than can be holstered on his left side, as well as a knife, sheathed on his left lower leg.
Darklon also comes with big broadsword that can be sheathed in a scabbard on his back.
For added firepower Darklon comes with his iconic mini-gatling gun rifle.
Lastly, he comes with an alternate head. I’m not really sure what this thing is supposed to be based on?
Overall, pretty good. While not really a central character in the Cobra ranks, he did serve as someone for Destro to ally with in the comics after the latter had a falling out with Cobra Commander and is an integral part of the Iron Grenadiers sub-team.
It’s a shame he doesn’t come with his Evader vehicle.
Hasbro’s pre-order codename for the Darklon is “Smithers”, based on the Simpsons character.
