G.i. Joe Classified # 160 Slice and Dice

Slice

Rumored to be a renegade ninja from Storm Shadow’s Arashikage Clan, Slice is so skilled that he created his own slash technique called the “Scorpion Slash.” He is also highly skilled in explosives and sabotage.

Slice comes with a tiny sai weapon that can be sheathed onto his left forearm.

Jab hock heavy sword- a pair of hook swords that Slice often uses.

Hmm.. the sword handles are a bit too small to properly fit into his hand.

Both swords can be sheathed into the back of the figure.

Wide butterfly battle knife – Slice’s other iconic set of blades.

For added weaponry, Slice comes with a pair of Katar (“fist daggers”). This is something new added to the set that was not part of the vintage toy’s weaponry.

Another bonus accessory for slice is this alternate head with an insect-looking mask.

Dice

Dice is said to be a former Cobra Night Creeper that was kicked out of the group for being “too evil”. Often partnered with Slice, Dice is rarely seen without his buddy when on a mission for Cobra.

Bladed bo-staff – when armed with this, Dice’s most dreaded technique is an attack motion he calls the “Flying Dragon.”

Battle axes

Dice’s alternate iconic weapon.

The set includes an alternate dragon mask head; I think it works better on Dice.

The set comes with an alternate “unmasked” head. I’m not sure who this belongs too exactly, but I figured using Dice seems like a better fit.

Lastly, the set gives us this cool straw hat and scarf set for use on any of the duo, this is meant to go with the unmasked head. I guess one can opt to use these parts to create an all-new character, if you’ve got some spare ninja bucks around to go with the motif.

Slice and Dice!

Thankfully, the set also provides the duo with “karate chop” hands. Cool!

The evil pair definitely look cooler holding their iconic deadly weapons, though.

Overall, pretty cool. The sheer amount of gear this set comes with is really astounding. The addition of the straw hat is really nice as well. I really wish Hasbro could include this much stuff with their Marvel Legends figures.

One thing I didn’t like with this set was the hook swords’ handles being too small to fit into any of the figure’s hands. That seems like a big oversight.

While I never really liked the concept of adding mystic ninjas to a military unit, the idea somehow managed to work out with Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow (in the comics, not the Sunbow cartoons). It was a good thing back when there was just one guy per side.

It was when they started to double down with “Ninja Force” and the way the characters and evil ninjas were badly written in the DIC era cartoons in the cringiest way possible, that’s when things really started to go off the rails. Oh, the late 80s. What a silly mess.

Hasbro’s oddball internal codename for pre-orders for Slice and Dice set is “Red Scare”.
