G.i. Joe Classified # 177 Sci-fi

Seymour P. Fine is the Joe team’s laser weapons specialist. Equipped with a portable laser system, Sci-Fi mirrors the precision of his own technology—once he locks onto a target, his focus is so intense that very little can throw him off balance or cause him to miss. Off the battlefield, however, he’s a hardman to connect with. Sci-Fi tends to skip small talk, shows no sense of humor and prefers to steer every conversation back to discussions about technology.

Hmm.. Sci-fi’s headsculpt makes me think he’s Italian. I wonder if the change was intentional? He didn’t seem Italian in the cartoons.

His helmet fits over his head.

You get two options for his face shield. The more logical “fully covered” one…

Or the classic “half-covered” look.

Naturally, Sci-fi comes with his classic backpack, complete with a cable that connects to his rifle.

The set comes with effects parts for Sci-fi’s laser rifle.

You can opt to plug the beam into the energy orb…

Or plug the beam directly into the rifle itself. Pretty cool thinking here.

“Yo, Joe!”

Overall, I love it! While Sci-fi was always one of the “background characters” in the series, I really loved his suit’s look and the way he tended to stand out in a group when the Joes are together. His presence always added some nice, colorful visuals to the team, unlike the less interesting classic “militaristic” look Flash’s outfit had.
With this release, we are one step closer to completing the Sunbow-era Joes. I can’t believe we’ve come so far.

Hasbro’s internal oddball codename for pre-orders for Sci-fi is “Apu”, named after the Simpsons Character.
