G.i. Joe Classified # 77 David “Big Ben” Bennett
A staff sergeant of the 22nd Regiment of the British Special Air Service (the equivalent of the elite American Special Forces), Big Ben was originally only “loaned” to the help out the G.i. Joe team, before fully enlisting later on as an official member of the group. His primary military specialty is infantry.
Featuring Big Ben in Night Force deco, the figure is a “pretool” of a possible upcoming mass retail version of Big Ben.
Unfortunately, unlike most Classified figures, his fur hat cannot be removed.
However, Ben does come with an alternate gas-mask-wearing head. Remember to remove the Ben’s head down to the neck level to swap out the heads.
Too bad Ben’s jacket design limits his leg articulation a bit.
Big Ben comes with an Uzi with an equipable silencer attachment. The silencer can be slotted into a spot on his belt for storage, while the Uzi can be holstered on his right leg.
Ben also comes with an automatic shot gun, complete with removable ammo magazine.
Do note that the shotgun comes with a removable grip (mounting stand?), it tends to detach VERY EASILY, so be careful not to lose it!
Lastly Big Ben comes with an LMG (Light-Weight Machinegun) for some heavy firepower.
Likewise, the ammo box can be removed from the weapon.
Lock and load!
Overall, a surprisingly well-made figure. I was originally going to pass on this one since Big Ben never really stood out for me in the comics and DIC cartoons, but I just love the gear and overall design of the figure so much I decided to jump on the pre-order bandwagon and pick him up.
As of this writing, there has been no announcement as to whether he will get a V1 redeco, but for the time being, Night Force Big Ben was released as a Target Exclusive.
Big Ben’s oddball Hasbro product codename is “Wes Potter”.
