G.i. Joe Classified # 84 Firefly
A ruthless mercenary under Cobra’s employ, Firefly is an expert saboteur specializing in explosives. Highly effective in his task, he manages to force G.i. Joe to scrub its missions on several occasions in the comics and cartoons. His real identity is unknown, even to Cobra Commander.
Firefly comes with a knife that can be sheathed on his right arm, as well as a sidearm that can be holstered on his right leg.
Firefly comes with a silencer for his pistol (it can also be attached to his rifle). Unfortunately, there’s nowhere to store it when not in use, though.
Of course, since he’s a saboteur, he comes with a lot of explosives strapped around his body .
Firefly comes with a pair of landmines.
He also comes with an RC vehicle unit with what I presume are plastic explosives strapped to it.
There’s also a little remote control for either the car or for setting off the explosives.
The landmines and his RC car can be pegged into the sides of his backpack for storage.
I think this is probably my favorite backpack from this line by far. Lots of detailed tooling here!
For added firepower, Firefly comes with submachine gun.
As usual, the gun’s ammo magazine can be removed.
The weapon can also be stowed away on his backpack by pegging it into the trigger hole.
Lastly, since night time is the best time for a saboteur to operate, Firefly comes with some night vision gear to help him work.
Lastly, if all else fails and Firefly is about to be captured, he can rely on his ninja training to fight his way out. Despite not carrying a sword, Firefly is actually a ninja master trained by the Arashikage clan in the Marvel Comics continuity. His codename is the “Faceless Master”.
Overall, I like it. It’s a big improvement over the previous release in terms of cartoon accuracy. I think a lot of folks disliked the cumbersome bomb vest of the version 1.0 Firefly (including myself). This one is a lot more fun to pose and just looks better overall (I do miss the drone unit from the V1 though). Bravo, Hasbro Joe brand team.
Hasbro’s oddball codename for Firefly is Carrol.
