G.i. Joe Classified Retro Carded Tele-Viper

Cobra’s communications troopers, these Vipers are equipped with state of the art tech backpacks equipped with best comms gear, that can send out encoded messages, as well as jam enemy communications in the battlefield.

The figure is a retool of the Tele-Viper figure that came with the Cobra Flight Pod/ Trouble Bubble.

The Retro Carded version comes with two optional heads. While the sculpts are exactly the same, we get different prints on their visors.

The Tele-Viper’s backpack has an optional computer pack that generates LED readouts to the Tele-Viper’s helmet visor . For some reason, that readout is clearly visible to anyone he’s in front of, so everyone knows what the Tele-Viper is “receiving” (thinking?).

The details on his backpack are pretty cool.

His Scanner Pistol can be mounted on the pack when not in use.

The Scanner Pistol is the Tele-Viper’s only weapon. It is meant to be a radio transmission scanning device that could also function as a sonic weapon whenever the Tele-Viper is in the middle of a battlefield.

Overall, pretty decent. While I love that we’re finally getting a more classic-looking Tele-Viper, I do wish Hasbro gave us some more actual weapons to go with this guy. I never really quite understood how his Scanner Pistol worked, but it’s the only weapon he’s got.
The alternate heads are a nice touch, even if they are all the same base sculpt with just different texts printed on the visors, at least it beats not having any extra heads at all.
With the release of the Tele-Viper, we now have all of the classic Cobra troopers from the early seasons of G.i. Joe complete.

Hasbro’s internal oddball codename for pre-orders for the Tele-Viper is “Goodfeathers”
