G.i. Joe Classified Retro Destro
James McCullen Destro XXIV is a notorious arms dealer. Simply known as “Destro”, he supplies the terrorist organization, Cobra, with a steady stream of destructive weapons and vehicles in order to upset the world balance and increase his profits.
The figure is a redeco of the previously released Classified Destro. The paint deco closely follows the cartoon designs this time around.
Destro wears a mask forged from beryllium steel. It serves as a symbol of pride for the McCullen clan and has been passed down for generations. As founder of MARS (Military Armament Research Syndicate) Industries, Destro lives a lavish lifestyle, as he profits greatly from the spoils of wars that he occasionally helps propagate.
Lol… painted eyebrows! Cartoon accuracy for the win!
Destro comes with the same pistol as the previous version, just with zero paint apps.
Destro also comes with the same briefcase as before, again, with no pain apps on the outside.
The inside of the case features better paint and details over the previous one, thankfully.
Wrist rockets!
Lastly, Destro also comes with a sidearm.
Sidearm can be holstered on his right leg.
Comparison with the previous Destro.
Overall, a decent set. I do like the new colors here better than the previous release, but the set comes with nothing new, even in terms of accessories (unlike Gung-Ho or Baroness). I think if you have the previous release, it’s good enough and you don’t have to double dip into this one, as the differences are really very minimal (unless you’re really want to go after the best cartoon accurate versions, like me).
Funfact: The oddball codename for this set from Hasbro is called “Andromeda”.
