Marvel Legends Avengers 60th Anniversary Hulk and Bruce Banner 2-pack

Bruce Banner

A leading expert in gamma radiation, scientist Dr. Robert Bruce Banner is hired by the US Government to create and test a gamma radiation bomb. The good doctor is caught in the explosive test blast when he tries to save the life of young Rick Jones who was dared to enter the test site by his friends. Exposed to the massive dose of radiation, Banner changes into the Incredible Hulk!

The figure reuses parts from the “three-piece suited” Marvel Legends characters, as well as Reed Richard’s lab coat.

A recent ranking this 2023 put Bruce Banner as the 6th smartest man in the Marvel Comics Universe, only behind Tony Stark, Victor Von Doom, Lunella Lafayette and Valeria and Reed Richards.

Sigh… yeah, those are the same crummy old feet from the old suited figures, making the figure topple over easily sometimes. Sigh..

Lol… that headsculpt (without the glasses) is about as vanilla as it can get. You can pretty much use the head for any white character in the Legends line.

Lol.. Banner’s glasses cannot fit the Hulk for sure.

While a brilliant physicist, Bruce Banner is physically scrawny, resulting in a personality that’s socially awkward and withdrawn.

The Hulk easily towers over “puny Banner”.

“You won’t like me when I’m angry.”

Originally triggered due to the arrival of nightfall, which limited the Hulk’s appearance only to during night time (similar to that of a werewolf), Banner’s transformation in the Hulk would later be changed to being caused by stress or anxiety.

The Hulk’s strength and mass would also eventually become greater depending on the rage that Banner/ Hulk feels.

The Hulk (First Appearance)

A raging, uncontrollable brute that does whatever he likes, the Hulk is Bruce Banner’s alter ego, reflecting everything that he’s not.

The figure’s base body is that of the newer Hulk bodies starting with the 80th Anniversary line.

In the Hulk’s first appearance in the comics, Stan Lee always wanted the Hulk to be grey. Unfortunately, the printing technology at the time couldn’t consistently capture the right shade of grey for the Hulk. This resulted in Stan Lee ultimately changing the character’s color to green for the colorist’s sake.

Hulk stands roughly 8.5 inches tall.

His torn shirt can be easily removed.

Hulk comes with an alternate head.

He also comes with a crushed pipe accessory, like the previous SDCC 2019 Green Hulk and the Movie Comic Media London 2019 Comic Con grey Hulk releases.

Lol… In the Ultimates Universe, writer Mark Millar changed up Hulk’s personality a bit more, making him a manifestation of the repressed desires of an awkward Bruce Banner. In one panel, Hulk even yells out “HULK HORNY!”. Truly terrifying indeed.

Somehow, most of the time, Bruce Banner eventually does learn to “defeat” his inner demons. Brains always beats brawn, so they say.

Doc Bruce Banner
Belted by gamma rays
Turned into the Hulk
Ain’t he unglamo-rays!
Wreckin’ the town
With the power of a bull
Ain’t no monster clown
Who is as lovable
As ever-lovin’ Hulk! HULK! HULK!
