Marvel Legends Avengers 60th Anniversary Iron Man (Model 01)
Wealthy inventor and industrialist Tony Stark is captured by terrorists during a weapons test that goes wrong. Creating a suit of armor to help himself escape his captors, he becomes the Invincible Iron Man!
The figure features all new tooling.
I’m not a fan of all the weathering Hasbro added to the figure. It seems out of place. It’s actually compounded by the fact that the plastic is molded in a material that has watermarking all over it. Sigh.. .
Sigh… thanks to an issue with the ratchet joint in the waist, I can’t get the torso to line up properly.
Ugh… that watermarking on the plastic…
Surprisingly, this time around the hands don’t feature holes for plugging in Repulsor effects parts.
The effects parts are meant to be both plugged into Iron Man’s feet at the same time, like so.
Using a third party display stand to get some more mileage out of the effects parts.
Due to the figure’s round body, it’s hard to get a good grip on it with the flight stand. This was the best I could do for it.
Overall, not the best execution of this classic armor. The watermarking and weathering all just ruin the supposedly simple look of this figure big time. I also really miss the old removable faceplate gimmick we got from the Toybiz release 20+ years ago. It feels like Hasbro really dropped the ball on this release IMHO.
