Marvel Legends Gargantos (Shuma Gorath)

IMPORTANT NOTE:
Connecting the tentacles to the body of the figure is a one-time thing. You cannot undo the connections once they are plugged in! This means you can’t return Gargantos to the tray once you form him up.

Originating from another dimension, Gargantos (originally named Shuma-Gorath but the name was changed due to copyright issues with Funcom) belongs to the Great Old Ones, an ancient race of eldritch beings. Possessing the ability to manipulate reality, teleport and even control life forms through different dimensions, Gargantos will stop at nothing to rule the Earth once again as he did in ancient times. Only the hero Doctor Strange stands in his way.

When fully assembled, Gargantos spans roughly 25 inches wide.

His tentacles are pretty easy to bend. They’re not too stiff or hard, thankfully.

While he does look good, I cannot for the life of me get his tentacles to fold up together to recreate his victory pose like on the back of the box.

The set comes with a little version of himself all spiked up to attack, just like in the Marvel Super Heroes fighting games.

His eyelids can be opened or shut. Pretty cool.

The only real downside is, this figure needs a stand or a wall or something to prop it up. Otherwise, it just kinda lies there.

Overall. Pretty cool. The figure is very, very heavy and is actually fun to pose. It takes some creativity but I like what they did here. I just wish the arms could be disassembled and returned to the box, though.

I honestly never thought we would get this guy in the Marvel Legends line. Kudos to the Hasbro design team for making it happen. It would be interesting to see if Hasbro’s got the guts to reissue this guy in pink, to match his original video game look back in Marvel Super Heroes, as this color is based off of the Marvel Vs. Capcom games.
