Marvel Legends Power Man and Iron Fist
Luke Cage
When Luke Cage was framed for drug possession, he volunteered to be a part of a dangerous experiment in order to get early parole. After gaining superhuman strength and impenetrable skin as a result of the experiment being sabotaged, Luke decides to begin a career as a superpowered detective-for-hire.
Luke comes with a pair of knuckledusters that have his name on them sculpted into his default fists.
If that wasn’t enough, his belt has his name on it, too!
Power Man’s original costume featured him wearing a tiara. Thankfully, he’s dressed more sensibly nowadays.
The set comes with an alternate “yelling” head for Luke.
Iron Fist
Daniel Thomas “Danny” Rand discovers the secret city of K’un-L’un, where he trains his body in order to avenge his parent’s deaths by his father’s ex-business partner, Harold Meachum. He eventually defeats the guardian dragon Shou-Lao and gains the power of Iron Fist! Eventually, Danny choses to uphold the duty and legacy of Iron Fist and forgoes his mission of vengeance to fight for justice as a hero.
This costume is based on his classic comic book look.
The symbol of a dragon on his chest is a scar gained from defeating Shou-Lao.
The figure uses the newer Spider-man body type, so it’s lacking a waist joint, but at least it has the mid-torso ball joint in its steaad.
The set comes with a lot of alternate “kung fu” hands for Iron Fist.
For added value, the set provides Danny with Iron Fist effects parts for his hands.
After Iron Fist helps clears Luke’s name, the two become the best of friends and form a superhero agency called “Heroes for Hire. Inc.”, a detective agency that would bill its customers when hiring superheroes, instead of the usual pro bono work.
Overall, a pretty good set! While I do wish it came with the more modernized costume for Iron Fist, at least we finally get a classic Iron Fist. I guess now I’ll have to track down classic Power Man from the Mindless One wave to pair up the classic look for this duo.
I held off getting this set since it was everywhere when it first came out. Thanks to clearance prices, I was able to get this set at lower-than-SRP prices.
