Marvel Legends Quasar
Wendell Vaughn was originally a low-ranked S.H.I.E.L.D. agent until he took up the powerful Quantum Bands from the disgraced late hero, the Crusader (formerly Marvel Boy) to repel an A.I.M. attack on their facility.
His cape has little stars printed on the inside. Cool.
For some reason, I just cannot unsee actor Robert Redford in this headsculpt. Must be the hairstyle and the jawline.
As Quasar, Vaughn’s powers stem from the 7 gems on each of the Quantum Bands on his wrists. Quasar’s Quantum Bands were created by the cosmic being, Eon, to be worn by his champion, who would serve as the Protector of the Universe. The bands’ power is tapped from an infinite energy source called the “Quantum Zone”. To wield the band’s powers, one must have an easy-going, flexible attitude, as having an uncompromising will actually results in the wearer being disintegrated by the bands’ feedback.
The Quantum Bands have a wide range of powers for the wearer to use. These include flight, projecting heat or force beams, generating and manipulating durable energy constructs from the imagination of the wielder and even provide “Quantum Jump” portals that lets Quasar traverse through the Quantum Zone and travel across great distances across the cosmos, akin to hyperspace travel, in the blink of an eye.
Effects parts for Quasar’s hands are included.
As usual, you’ll have to provide your own flight stand to get these figures into flying poses.
Overall, a fairly decent figure. I think this is probably one of the most fan-requested characters ever since the Legends toyline began, even from the Toybiz days and it’s great Hasbro finally decided to make this guy. I do wish he came with better effects parts or even a flight stand though but it is what it is.
