Iron Man (Model 1)
Hoping to make his suit of armor less scary to the public, Tony Stark modifies his first Iron Man armor from its grayish color to a more golden design.
The figure is a yellow redeco of Avengers 60th Anniversary 1st appearance Iron Man figure. Based on Iron Man’s original appearance when he first joined the Avengers.
The set comes with an unmasked head for Tony. This is the same head that we got with the Marvel Legends 20th Anniversary Iron Man figure.
Yeah, I don’t think anyone can unsee late actor Charles Bronson with that face and hair.
What if Charles Bronson became Iron Man?
Golden Iron Man also comes with Repulsor effects parts. Unfortunately, it seems you cannot plug them into his palms, same as before.
The set also comes with smoke effects parts. These are meant to connect with the Repulsor effects parts to make Iron Man look like he’s flying.
“Smoke emissions away!”
Iron Man Model 09 (Neo Classic)
The Model 09 armor’s release followed after the Silver Centurion Iron Man armor (Model 08). This one featured a Beta particle generator and solar converters as energy sources for the suit. The armor also allowed for additional packs to be equipped to allow Iron Man to travel into space or underwater. It is also the first armor to feature a cybernetic interface directly into Tony’s nervous system following his spinal injury, the interface allowed Tony to walk while wearing the armor.
The figure is a heavy retool of the 80th Anniversary Iron Man figure.
The set comes with Repulsor effects parts.
Also included are “smoking” effects parts for Iron Man’s palms after he unloads his salvo of Repulsor Blasts.
Iron Man (Model 20)
The 20th suit of Armor designed by Tony Stark; this unit is also known as the “Tin Man Armor”. While nothing really new was added to the suit, it did feature heavy improvements over existing functions of its predecessors, such as improved EMP shielding, increased sonic attacks and magnetic pulse emission capabilities.
The suit was also encoded to function only with Tony’s heart for added security.
For accessories, we only get four Repulsor effects parts and extra hands with this figure.
She- hulk
Jennifer Susan Walters is Bruce Banner’s (a.k.a. the Incredible Hulk) cousin. After an accident required Bruce to transfuse his Gamma-irradiated blood to save Jen, she gains the ability to transform into a female version of the Hulk, becoming superhumanly strong and nearly indestructible. Similar to her cousin, her level of strength would depend on her emotional state (the angrier, the stronger).
One of her most iconic uniforms, her “aerobics” outfit was her look when she first joined the Avengers.
She-Hulk is one of the tallest female figures in the line, standing almost 7.5 inches tall.
Previously small, shy and timid, Jennifer Walters’ physical transformation is said to be heavily influenced by her subconscious image of the ideal woman, becoming taller, stronger and more aggressive.
It’s been pointed out that Stark and Jennifer dated for a while. Hmm… I wonder what it’s like to date a much taller woman?
When not out doing superhero stuff, She-Hulk often practices law as a criminal defense lawyer, using her skills to help as legal counsel for various heroes when they need her.
It’s a shame the set doesn’t offer anything beyond a crushed gun as an accessory for her. A crushed car or a bent stoplight would’ve been a much impressive fit.
I think hands down, this is the best She-Hulk figure we’ve gotten yet.
I’m really impressed this figure can pull off this pose without any support. Nicely done, Hasbro ML design team!
Count Nefaria
Count Luchino Nefaria is a super-powered crime boss who controls the international crime organization known as the Maggia. A wealthy Italian aristocrat with a brilliant mind, Nefaria possesses genius-level intellect and strategic acumen.
Through scientific means, Nefaria temporarily gained the powers of his minions the Living Laser, Power Man and Whirlwind (collectively called the Lethal Legion) amplified a hundredfold, being able to even withstand blows from Thor’s Hammer for a time.
Lol.. I never really read any comics that featured Count Nefaria growing up, so to me, this guy looks like an evil, hyper crazy version of Doctor Strange, to be honest.
Probably the least accessorized figure in this wave, Count Nefaria only comes with an extra pair of hands for accessories. Sigh…
Whiplash
Mark Scarlotti was once one of Stark International’s best engineers. Desiring wealth and power, he adopts the criminal identity Whiplash and leases his services as a weapons designer and assassin to the criminal organization known as the Maggia. Hired by the Maggia to take down Iron Man, Whiplash and the armored hero clashed on several occasions in the villains career.
Supposedly, Whiplash’s costume is designed to be bulletproof.
Armed with a pair of cybernetically-controlled titanium whips, Whiplash can mentally control his whips to accurately strike any object or deflect incoming projectiles. He can also mentally command his whips to harden and become vaulting poles.
Sigh.. Hasbro cheaped out here and gave us only one whip, where there should be two, just like in the comics.
Aside from his whips, Whiplash also carries a pouch filled with high-tech weapons and gadgets he’s invented over the years.
The full wave
Overall, I have to say I am happy with this wave. While not necessarily “must haves” for everyone, I love that this roster added some much needed “never released” characters into the Marvel Legends line, while also upgrading some of the older Iron Man figures one would need if they were completing the “Hall of Armor” collection, like myself.
