Marvel Legends SDCC Death’s Head

A robotic galactic bounty hunter, Death’s Head has had more than a few run-ins with the Transformers. In one timeline, he is also responsible for killing Bumblebee, resulting in the latter being reborn as Goldbug.

Originally appearing in the Transformers UK comics as a throwaway character, he eventually gained popularity and was introduced to the main Marvel Comics superhero continuity. As part of his characteristic charm, Death’s Head tends to add the word “yes?” at the end of every sentence. Death’s Head also prefers to be called a “Freelance Peacekeeping Agent” as opposed to a bounty hunter.

The figure reuses some parts from Marvel Legends Colossus. His appearance here is based on his look after he was transported into the Marvel Universe after a brief stint through the Doctor Who universe.

I love the texture on the cape. Not too crazy about the holes in it, though.

For an SDCC release, I hate that he reuses older figure parts. The pinned single hinged elbow just looks dated now compared to most Marvel Legends figures.

His skirt also tends to get in the way of articulation.

Death’s head stands roughly 7.5 inches tall.

For an exclusive, he doesn’t come with much, just three weapons and a shield (No blaster?). All of which can all be stowed onto his shield, which can then be pegged onto his back.

Puny shield?

His weapons are meant to be plugged into this right arm.

Axe

Spear

Mace

The boxset also provides a little backdrop illustration you can prop the figure up against.

Overall, not bad, I suppose. Admittedly, I have never really read any of Death’s Head’s appearances in the comics. I just know he exists and has from time-to-time crossed paths with the Transformers as well as a few Marvel Comics heroes. I just got this since he’s a 2024 SDCC Exclusive and those things can sometimes be a pain to backtrack.
