The Marvels – Captain Marvel

Following the events of Avengers: Endgame, Carol Danvers investigates strange new “Jump Points” that have been appearing across the galaxy. She also begins to randomly teleporting to various locations whenever she uses her powers.

The figure is based on Captain Marvel’s look in her second movie. Personally, I think her Endgame hairstyle suits her best.

I can’t say the headsculpt this time around quite matches up to actress Brie Larson. It seems like earlier takes on her headsculpt were more accurate compared to what went down here.

She comes with some recycled effects parts from earlier Captain Marvel figure releases.

In the Captain Marvel sequel, Carol has trouble using her powers, as they tend to mess up and make her swap places with either Ms. Marvel or Photon whenever they use their powers at the same time, resulting in “quantum entanglement”. This effectively nerfs Captain Marvel’s effectivity in combat, making her rely on her teammates.

The Marvels – Ms. Marvel

Kamala Khan is a mutant hybrid who is able to access the energies from the dimension of Noor thanks to her Quantum Bands, allowing her to create solid energy constructs. She’s also probably Captain Marvel’s biggest fan in the MCU.

The likeness of actress Iman Vellani is not quite there.

She comes with the Flerken, an alien that somehow resembles a regular house cat. Unlike regular Earth cats, these creatures can swallow objects several times their size somehow. Oh, and they can also regurgitate whatever they swallow back out without causing any digestive harm to their “passengers”. Weird.

Her uniform severely limits any poseability.

In her debut Disney+ series, we see that she gets her powers from a family heirloom. In the Marvels movie, it’s further explained that these are actually called the Quantum Bands, powerful, ancient weapons created by the Kree that somehow found their way to Kamala’s family.

It’s a shame the set does not come with any energy constructs to showcase her powers.

Following the events of the Marvels, Kamala goes on a recruitment drive to round up other teenage heroes, hoping to create her own superhero team.

The Marvels – Photon

Monica Rambeau is the daughter of Maria Rambeau, the best friend of Carol Danvers. After crossing Wanda Maximoff’s Hex barrier during the events of Wandavision.

After having her DNA rewritten as the result of multiple crossings through Wanda’s Hex barriers, Monica gains various superhuman powers such as super strength, speed, flight. She is also able to see, absorb and project various forms of energy, as well as become intangible and turn invisible.

The likeness to actress Teyonah Parris is pretty good.

Thanks to the design of her knees, it’s hard to pose her standing upright without looking terrible.

Just like her other Marvel Legends figures, Monica comes with only a pair of hands for accessories . Sigh…

Lol… Nick Fury probably gave the most iconic line in the movie: “Black girl magic!”

Welp, here we are. I eventually caved and grabbed the remaining figures from the Amadeus Cho Hulk/ The Marvels wave. The last three figures in the wave eventually went on deep clearance and admittedly, I got these on an impulse buy. I’m sure I’ll have some form of buyer’s remorse down the road (lol..), but at least I didn’t pay full price for these figures.

The full “The Marvels” wave with the Amadeus Cho BAF.
