Marvel Legends X-men ’97 Sentinel

The set comes with a second inner shipper box.

Lol… So Magneto gets double representation..? lol.. is he the main character?

Note that the Sentinel’s main chest pieces are packed with the skullcap.

When attaching the chest piece, look for the notch.

Created by Dr. Bolivar Trask, these 3-storey tall giant machines were created to detect, capture, or eliminate mutants in order to protect humanity. Equipped with artificial intelligence, mutant detection scanners and armed with powerful energy blasts and capture tentacles, these hulking beasts are dangerous any and all mutants.

This version of the Sentinel stands roughly 22 inches tall.

The chest piece can be removed to show the unit’s “power core”.

I love how the mid-torso joint is very well hidden behind the belt. I do hope the belt doesn’t crack over time though, as it does feel rubbery.

Like most of Hasbro’s giant figure releases, this one also comes with a lot of detailed articulation for its fingers.

Blast effects parts.

They plug into the Sentinel’s palms easily enough.

Next to everyone’s favorite mutant.

The Sentinel’s hand is big enough to hold any garden variety Marvel Legends figure.

What the X-men usually see once a month.

Battle damaged parts – The set comes with parts for you to make a busted-up Sentinel figure that just went toe-to-toe with some dangerous mutie scum.

Since it just wouldn’t seem right to have just one of these awesome guys, I ordered a second unit. I really would’ve loved army building this thing if I had funds to spare.

Uh- oh…

Ruuuuun!!!

Overall, I love it!! It perfectly captures the big ol’ Sentinel look and thankfully, Hasbro learned their lesson from the previous Haslab release and really improved the joints here! I wish I had time to break out all of the Marvel Legends X-men to do a proper battle scene with these guys!

The only thing missing here would be some capture tentacles, but I guess we can borrow some from the Haslab version.

My only personal issue here is that this thing didn’t get a mass retail release. It was only released through the Hasbro Pulse website. Pity. This would’ve sold really well at the mass market level, I think.

I’ll probably set these bad boys up flanking next to the Haslab Sentinel, with that one being my Mastermold figure.
