The design is based on Batman’s redesigned “original” costume in the New 52 universe during the “Zero Year” saga.
I was a bit surprised to see this cut in the cape, I never noticed it when reading the comic book a while back.

I love the details on this figure. I was pleasantly surprised Mattel really did this figure right.
The purple gloves are a homage to how Batman looked way back in his original costume in the late1930’s
