McFarlane DC Batman Rebirth #1

After witnessing his parents get gunned down in a senseless robbery, 10-year old Bruce Wayne swears to never let it happen to anyone ever again. Dedicating his life to training both his mind and his body, Bruce grows up to become the masked hero known as the Batman!

The figure is a reissue of the previously released Batman figure based on the Rebirth comic title from a few years back. This version is meant to compliment the newly released Rebirth Batmobile, complete with soft goods cape, making it easier for Batman to get into his car.

This version comes with the unmasked Bruce Wayne head that came with the second “blue redeco” release of Rebirth Batman.

While the cape looks really good thanks to the bright violet colors, sadly, it does not have any wires underneath to help folks pose the cape better.

From what I understand, the purple color is meant to homage the original first Batsuit, which also had violet colors on the inside of its cape.

I can’t say I’m a fan of this new “fatter” headsculpt they used. I wish they stuck with the original v1 head for this figure. Sigh…

The set comes with a Batarang for Batman.

Aside from the Batarang, Batman also comes with his grapnel gun.

Lastly, I love that Batman comes with a spare open left hand, so he can be put in some really dynamic poses.

Overall, not bad, but could’ve been better. I really wish they kept the original head for the Rebirth Batman with this set. I also wish they included a wire for the cape, as it tends to spread out all over the place due to the double layering of cloth.

On the plus side, I am glad they included the Bruce Wayne head that came with the second release (this is actually the third release of the Rebirth-styled costume). So, this set does have more bang for the buck.

I’ll try to catch the Rebirth Batmobile when one of the local malls have their weekend sale events.
