McFarlane DC Multiverse The Batman Deluxe Theatrical Edition

Eighteen years after the murder of Thomas and Martha Wayne, their son Bruce operates as a vigilante known only as the Batman. He works closely with the Gotham City Police Department’s Lt. James Gordon in trying to solve a series of high-profile murders.

The figure is a straight up redeco of the previous figure, just now sporting a cloth cape instead of plastic.

It’s a shame McFarlane didn’t bother to modify their original figure to include the side pouch on Batman’s right thigh, which usually holds the cables connected to his grapnel gun. It would’ve made this version even more screen-accurate.

I really can’t believe it’s the same figure we got a few years back. The change in the paint scheme gives it a whole world of difference.

For accessories, we get optional hands, as well as his grapnel gun.

Batman also comes with his Batarang, which is meant to be his chest emblem, removed, and meant to serve as a cutting tool.

We also get an unmasked Bruce Wayne head for this set, complete with leftover eye mascara.

Naturally, this is a reuse of the same head we got with Bruce Wayne back in the original toyline. Not the best sculpt work IMHO and I really wish they gave us a new sculpt instead.

The cloth cape is pretty darn good!! The material is really thick and looks great when you pose it! Not all of McFarlane’s figures’ capes are like this.

The original figure from 2022.

Overall, pretty darn amazing!! I still can’t believe what a simple color change can do for this figure. The previous release was fairly ok, but the paint wash details here really bring out the details of the sculpt. The material used for the cape really works well for this figure and I wish McFarlane used this on all of their caped releases. There’s a certain level of high-quality that it brings when you see and hold it that really elevates this reissue figure to 11.
My only real gripe here is that they should’ve given us a new Bruce Wayne head for this set. The reuse of the old head from half a decade ago really looks bad and I don’t think anyone would want to place that on this incredible figure in a display.
It’s cool that McFarlane Toys decided to give us extra hands for this figure. The original release didn’t have any extra hands, so his right hand would always be the one for holding the grapnel gun, instead of a closed fist.
Easily a must-have if you’re a fan of the movie and an even bigger must-have if you have the Batmobile to pair it up with (like me).
I wonder what I’ll do with the previous figure? I’ll probably try to sell it…

Lol… oh, yeah. Parting shot, so the previous release had Batman looking to the left. This release makes him look to the right. C’mon, McFarlane…
