Dairugger XV / Vehicle Force Voltron
Constructed on Earth and primarily intended for the defense of the Galaxy Alliance’s premier deep space exploration ship, the S.S. Explorer, Voltron is the ship’s main line of defense against the formidable Drule Empire. Voltron is formed by combining all 15 Armored Fleet space vehicles and only has a maximum operating time of five minutes.
For cartoon accuracy, you should leave the propellers off for the shoulder units.
The mid-torso ab crunch joint really helps make this figure look extra dynamic while posing.
Be mindful of this fin, it keeps falling out. I eventually had to glue it into place.
So, the good news is, once combined, this figure looks really good.
The bad news is that the connections for the legs are super tough to get in! It will take a lot of force to properly push in the pegs into their proper position. I almost thought the connections were poorly designed (thanks for the corrections, Cole English).
Accessory-wise, it doesn’t come with much though, just the Spinning Laser Blades, the Blazing Sword and some spare hands.
To connect the Spinning Laser Blades, just plug these adapters in (they’re connected by default out of the tray).
Of course, Voltron wouldn’t be complete without his “Blazing Sword” final attack.
Since I got the ACG HK 2023 convention event exclusive version, my set comes with an extra chromed finish set of Spinning Laser Blades as well as the Blazing Sword. Pretty nifty.
However, I decided to keep the pack sealed, since I probably wouldn’t be using them to display with the figure and just use the default accessories.
Overall, not too shabby. I initially planned on giving this one a bad review, since when I first handled it, the connections for the legs just wouldn’t go into the hips and the figure would fall apart when lifted off the ground. It turns out you have to apply A LOT of force to get it done right. Not the best execution of the combination process, but at least it’s there and it works.
The toy is a lot of fun to pose though once you get the combination sorted out.
I wonder if they will still be pushing through with the Lion Force Voltron set that they teased alongside this figure back in the day?
