NECA TMNT 2012 Ultimate Donatello
The “big brain” of the group, Donatello is always tinkering with machines, trying out new inventions and be the all-around science wiz the Turtles need in times of crisis.
I love that Donnie is voiced by Rob Paulsen, the guy who voiced Raphael back in the original TMNT cartoons. He did a pretty great job voicing Donnie in this new series, I honestly can’t imagine this version of Donatello being voiced by anyone else.
The “ninja mode” face is the default headsculpt attached.
The holder for Donnie’s bo staff is a bit tricky to peg into his back due to the soft nature of the PVC material, but it can be done.
I love the ankle joints on this figure.
Naturally, Donnie comes with his bo staff.
One end of the stick can be removed and the optional bladed part plugged in to create his naginata weapon.
Donatello comes with his “normal” face alternate head.
Aside from weapons, Donnie comes with a whole bunch of accessories, starting with this Nina Smoke bomb.
Donnie, being the genius that he is, also invented the T-Phone, so that each Turtle can stay in contact with each other when on missions.
Another one of Don’s inventions is the Ooze Specs, which he uses to track traces of mutagen, these appear in the episodes “Invasion of the Squirrelanoids” and “Serpent Hunt”.
To properly attach the Specs, the strap must be below Donnie’s Bandana line.
The Mutagen Tracker, which largely resembles the Nintendo Gameboy, is also included here. This little gadget first appears in the episode “The Mutation Situation” (Season 2, Episode 2), where the group deals with April’s father being mutated into a bat, with several other mutagen canisters become scattered throughout the city.
Of course, no Turtle action figure should come without his own slice of pizza.
Lastly, the set comes with Dr. Cluckingsworth M.D., a genius mutant chicken from the O’ Neil farm. She was a regular chicken that got exposed to mutagen and became highly intelligent. She considers the Turtles as her closest allies.
Overall, I love it! The 2012 TMNT show was a really great series and I love that NECA Toys is finally taking a crack at it!
NECA really knows how to show love to their customer base by sprinkling in a lot of accessories and details only fans who have watched the show would recognize. It’s great that this new TMNT line still follows that formula. I hope they keep it up.
