VOLTES FIVE!!!!
Created in secret by the world’s governments against the coming Boazanian invasion, Voltes Five is Earth’s last line of defense!
Based on 2023’s Voltes V live-action TV series relaunch, Voltes Five has been greatly redesigned with a more modern mechanical style as compared to the 1970’s classic animated series’s aesthetic.

Robot Spirits Voltes V stands roughly 6.25 inches tall.
Thanks to the redesigned look, Voltes looks beefier than its original “boxy” cartoonish look. The new show also gave Voltes a more “grounded” concept, with the robot rarely flying in combat due to its immense size and weight.
The tracks on the back of the figure are also poseable. Cool.
While the figure sports some really cool sculpt work detail, I wish the designers gave the lower legs some added heft, Voltes tends to lose its balance when posed while holding the Ultra Electro Magnetic Tops (Chodenji Goma).
Ultra Electro Magnetic Beam! – A beam attack from the yellow part of Voltes’ chest.
Grand Fire! – A powerful burst of flame from the flame thrower in Voltes’ belt buckle.
Voltes Bazooka! – A powerful cannon deployed from either of Voltes’ arms.
Some parts swapping is required for the Voltes Bazooka.
Gotta love the fact that the figure has butterfly shoulder joints to pull of this attack.

Ultra Electro Magnetic Whips! (Chodenji String!) – Voltes deploys its belt(s) and uses them to lash its opponents.
I have to say, Bandai used some really impressive material here. It’s bendy without feeling gummy, I wonder how they pulled it off? The material resistance is very minimal, so the belts hold the form of whatever you leave them in. Very nice.

Ultra Electro Magnetic Tops! (Chodenji Goma!) – Voltes deploys giant tops from its belly and lassos them around his belts.
Attaching the tops is easy enough to do. Just have to swap out the tips of the belts.
Laser Sword! (Ten Ku Ken!) – Voltes’s finishing move. A large sword emerges from his chest plate.

Laser Sword V-Slash!

Overall, a pretty cool toy! It’s got the new look from the show right and the accessories are pretty darn good! I really love the material Bandai used for the UEM Strings. I hope they use them again (or something even better?) when they eventually release the Soul of Chogokin version.
The only downside is the lack of heft for the figure’s legs. I wish they didn’t make the lower legs with hollow plastic give the figure more weight and balance.
Also, it’s a shame we don’t get Chain Knuckles for this figure, as it is the first attack we see Voltes execute in the Legacy TV series.
Funfact: When the original cartoon aired back in the 70s, it was comprised of 37 episodes. The Voltes V Legacy remake ran for a whooping 90(!) episodes on Philippine TV. The run time for the Japanese airing for Voltes V Legacy was cut down to a mere 20 episodes. With most of the character-based subplots completely cut out from the Japanese version.
