Robot Spirits No. 257 Gundam 0083 Gundam RX-78 GP02A Ver A.N.I.M.E.
Similar with GP01, the GP02A, codenamed “Physalis” follows a flower-themed name, which is the norm for the GP0X series of Gundams. Physalis means “falsehood”. Stolen by Zeon’s Anavel Gato and armed with a tactical nuclear warhead, the GP02A becomes a prized propaganda tool and deadly weapon by the remnant Zeon Forces’ Delaz Fleet.
Despite its size, the Physalis is incredibly agile in combat, thanks to the Flexible Thruster Binders mounted on the unit.
Bandai also included effects parts for the thrusters. Too bad they didn’t give us more. As is, you can only do two of the six thrusters. Guess you can always borrow some more from GP01.
Effects parts can also be plugged into the soles of the feet.
NR-Sh-02-RX/S-00013 Shield
The shield’s impressive size protects the Physalis from the heat and shock of a nuclear explosion. The shield also has a powerful liquid nitrogen cooling system to cool the mobile suit since it uses large Flexible Thruster Binders to maintain mobility and hover even under gravity.
A.E. Blash AEXB-909L Beam Saber
Similar with the GP01, the set comes with a crescent-shaped saber effect, to simulate “drawing” of the weapon from the unit’s lateral skirt plate.
The GP02A can boost the output of its Beam Saber, you can recreate that by using an extra effects part.
AE/ZIM.G-BAZ-0186-A Atomic Bazooka
The Mk-82 nuclear warhead is stored separately in the GP02A’s backpack.
The barrel of the launcher is mounted on the shield.
A deployable scope is present on the launcher.
Tactical Nuclear Weapon ready!

Probably the best cliffhanger moment of my early teen years, the ending scene of Gundam 0083 Stardust Memory episode 1.
Bandai included this wonderful effects part with the GP01 to make the two units seem like they’re dueling, similar to the opening credits of the mini-series! It’s a bit tricky to set up, but it’s amazing to look at once properly done.
The GP02A stands roughly 5.5 inches tall.
A “tree” for holding the figure’s spare hands is also included.
Overall, a must have figure to pair up with the GP01! The “dueling” effects part was a stroke of genius. It really makes displaying them as a set so awesome. I’m now excited for the upcoming GP01Fb unit.
