S.H. Figuarts Jiren

Hailed as the strongest member of Universe 11’s Pride Troopers, Jiren is the main antagonist of the Universe Survival saga of Dragon Ball Super.

Jiren took pride in the fact that he didn’t need anyone to attain ultimate strength, preferring to operate as a solo fighter instead of working with his team. He is seen as a mirror image of Goku, a strong fighter that always surpasses his limits through harsh training and never gives up..

Through flashbacks, we see him start out as a warm and trusting child, who eventually suffers many betrayals in life, even from his own mentor. He still believes in justice but has grown cold towards others, never fully trusting anyone. He trains to attain strength and believes that strength is everything he needs. By the end of the saga, thanks to Son Goku, Jiren starts to open up and become more sociable.

Curiously, his eyes have him looking to the right instead of dead center.

The set doesn’t come much in terms of accessories. Just spare heads, alternate folded arms and effects parts for his right fist.

Swapping the heads are a cinch now, thanks to this new plug, which eliminates the need to pop free the ball jointed neck. This only seems to be used in bigger figures though (like Jiren and Ginyu) and not on the standard S.H. Figuarts guys. Progress!

Angry Jiren. Boy… Goku really knows how to tick strong people off.

Jiren comes with an extra hand that has an attachment for Goku, to recreate the scene where he’s grabbing the Blue Super Saiyan by the forehead.

Unfortunately, I had injured my leg, so I couldn’t lift heavy boxes on the day of the shoot to dig out SSGSS Goku. So this shot will have to do for now. Sorry, folks.

Lastly, Jiren comes with an alternate glowing right fist part (idea stolen from Marvel’s Iron Fist?).

To top things off, there’s an effects piece that can be added to enhance the glowing fist attack.

Overall, not too shabby. Jiren is the main antagonist in the Dragon Ball Super “Universe Survival” arc and he is faithfully recreated here. He doesn’t come with much since he doesn’t really show much in terms of flashy moves in the series, so I guess this is as good as it gets.
