Transformers Bad Cube OTS-13 Piper (Masterpiece Pipes)
Accessories come in a baggie
Since this is a Third Party, non-official item, it’s best to get some stickers from Reprolabels/Toyhax.com to make this guy more “toon-accurate”.
To apply, I find the best way to stick the stickers on is to use the tip of a blade, this way you have more control over the application, as compared to using just your fingers. You can also use the blade to help gently peel off a corner of the sticker in case you didn’t center it right and need to re-apply.
Pipes only had a few short moments in the G1 cartoons in the third “post 1986 movie” season. He is a good soldier in the battlefield and was present to help defend during Trypticon’s invasion of Autobot City during the “Five Faces of Darkness” saga. According to his bio, as a hobby, Pipes loves to collect all kinds of strange human junk and display them in his own corner of the Ark.
His primary (and only) weapons are his forearm-mounted pipes. Apart from firing energy blasts(?), his pipes can also emit corrosive gases.
Piper stands roughly 6 inches and weighs 157 Grams.
Diecast parts include:
-Feet
-Connectors to MP-10 Prime’s Trailer
Piper is actually designed differently in robot mode compared to Huff (this is how it was with the G1 cartoon as well), as a result, he has a huge backpack on his back.
The set also comes with alternate faceplates for Piper, based on his G1 toy version and the occasional “mis-colored eyes” from the cartoons.
His only other accessory is Metroplex’s transformation cog, which he got back to Autobot City just in time during the “Five Faces of Darkness” saga.
Comparison with Badcube Huff
Comparison with Takara Masterpieces.
Overall, another nice minibot to add to one’s Masterpiece collection. It’s a pretty decent figure and it wasn’t too pricey when it came out. Only Badcube so far has made a Masterpiece Pipes figure so there’s no real alternative, if one is going for completing the G1 character list in Masterpiece form.
