Headmaster Gran
Grand’s Headmaster component. The figure is a redeco of “Spike” from Fortress Maximus.
Gran with it’s Transtector, Grand.
“Head on!” – just like with Cerebros, plugging the Headmaster unit in rolls out his specs on his chest panel.
The Transtector body for Gran, Grand serves as an intermediary body for the Headmaster, so that it can combine with Grand Maximus. The figure is a redeco of Cerebros.
The set provides a small sword for Grand, called the Master Blade.
Grand also comes with his gun, the Heat Blaster rifle.
Grand Pretender shell
Grand comes with a Pretender shell, just like how it looked in the Anime.
Holy backpacks!
Same as usual, the body splits in half vertically.
Getting Grand into the Pretender is a bit of a challenge, you’ll have to align his legs up like so, so that everything can close up properly.
The Pretender shell can be armed with Grand’s weapons.
Onomisu
Koka
Both units act as drones controlled by Gran to help service Grand Maximus. They are redecos of Fort Max’s Gasket and Grommet.
Cog
The combined form of Onomisu and Koka. The figure is a redeco of Cog (same name?) from Fortress Maximus.
Cog is supposed to come with his Laser Rifle. I forgot to take a picture of it (I thought it was a misplaced item from another figure). Good thing it’s documented at TFU.Info.
Team Grand Maximus
Grand stands roughly 5.5 inches tall.
Grand Pretender stands roughly 7.25 inches tall.
Cog stands roughly 5.5 inches tall.
Grand Maximus City mode
You can park Onomisu and Koka onto the ramps. Transtector Grand transforms into the city’s Communications Room for this mode.
Side access stairs.
Working elevator.
Prison cell for Decepticons on the left side.
Lol… yeah… I’m going to have to scrape these off..lol.. thanks previous owner.
Grand Maximus’ guns are placed up top.
New Battleship Maximus (battle station) mode
Gran can be placed in the command tower of the battleship.
Lots of big cannons on this battleship.
Onomisu and Koka can be parked on the front sections of the ship.
Grand Maximus
BIG TRANSFORM! HEAD ON!
Grand Maximus is considered to be the younger brother of Fortress Maximus. Being the smallest of the Maximus brothers, he’s shown to be only a big larger than God Ginrai in the Masterforce series. The toy, however, is exactly the same size as Fortress Maximus.
Grand Maximus stands roughly 22 inches tall.
Lols… so the previous owner slapped on the eye stickers a bit too low. The eyes should be practically next to the brow.
Just like with Fortress Maximus, Grand Maximus features a LOT of big guns that can be flipped out for battle.
Again, as with Fortress Maximus, there’s a big chunk of diecast metal here, serving as the large hinge joint for the chopper pad/ gun platform.
Grand Max comes with his guns, the Dual Laser Cannon…
… and the Proton Master Rifle.
Of course, Grand Maximus’ most powerful weapon is the Grand Sword.
The figure holds the gigantic sword very well; thanks to the way sword’s handle was designed.
When holding the sword, Grand Maximus will require about 32.5 inches of clearance on your shelf.
Overall, I’m super happy!!!! This sucker has been on my list of grails for the last 20 years!! I honestly never thought I would be able to get a complete figure! I feel very, very blessed to have a friend who helped me track one down from a Japan auction. 100% complete with the box to boot (just missing the styrofoam tray), all at a very decent price. Quite the lucky bid. It’s just amazing!
Admittedly, the stickers will need to be redone (particularly the eyes) with Toyhax replacements and I might try some whitening agents for the yellowed parts. But overall, I am super stoked!
A big, big shoutout again to my good friend who helped me with this. Just… wow! Seriously.. I still can’t believe I got this one.
Just a couple of G1’s left on my hunting list and I can close the book on backtracking G1 Transformers once and for all. Whee….
