Transformers Masterpiece God Ginrai

The MPG-14 comes with an adapter piece that you’re supposed to plug into Ginrai in cab mode, so you can hitch up the Godbomber directly to the cab in their alt modes.

The “official” way to connect Ginrai to the Godbomber in alt mode.

“Boarding figure” Ginrai, along with the “boarding figures” of the Junior Headmasters that come with MPG-14 Godbomber.

Transform!

Chojin Gattai! God Ginrai!

God Ginrai is the combined form of Super Ginrai and Godbomber. Now equipped with added armor, as well as all0new weapons and attacks, God Ginrai is more than ready to take on the deadly threat posed by the new Decepticons Black Zarak and Overlord!

Fully assembled, God Ginrai stands roughly 14.25 inches tall, counting the highest point of the God Cannon.

When transforming Super Ginrai into God Ginrai, make sure this section is folded out and this piece raised on its slider, this will keep the shoulders from folding back in.

To flip the front shin panels of Godbomber, make sure to press this release button. I didn’t see this at first and I was actually forcing the panel to flip over with a screw driver. Good thing I didn’t break anything.

This is how the Godbomber body is supposed to look when mounted on God Ginrai’s back.

Effects pieces can be plugged into the God Arms’ cannons.

In the Anime, God Ginrai can also launch the “God Arms” as flying fists, ala Mazinger Z’s Rocket Punch attack. You can recreate this gimmick here using the display base. But I have to admit, it does seem to be a bit too low, even with God Ginrai’s knees bent a bit to better match its height.

To attach the effects parts, you’ll need to fold down the panel inside the forearm first.

Naturally, God Ginrai’s main attacks are still his Superconducting Rifles.

With the Chokon Power effects parts that came with Super Ginrai.

When not in use, the rifles can be pegged into the wings for storage.

God Ginrai’s most powerful “non-Chokon Power” armament is, of course, the God Cannon.

The God Cannon can be removed and held directly in God Ginrai’s hands.

For added visual effect, you can opt to mount all of Ginrai and Super Ginrai’s rifles onto the forearms.

God Blade – This weapon was only used by God Ginrai in the Victory series when he fought against Deathsaurus. God Ginrai never wielded this in the Masterforce series.

Display base

This base set only comes with the MPG-14S Godbomber set. To attach God Ginrai to it, you will have to use this adapter plug.

Lastly, if you got the MPG-14S set, you can form up the prototype look for God Ginrai based on the toy’s original design as we first saw it in Japanese hobby magazines from back in the early 2000s.

God Ginrai’s shoulder plates were also very different in the original design.

The prototype Superconducting Rifle.

Personally, I think I prefer the God Cannon in this version over the rocket-firing one in the final design.

Overall, a very, very beautiful set! The proportions on this guy look very good! I was half-worried that the combined form could come out somewhat think around the torso just like with the original vintage toy, but somehow the Takara Tomy engineers managed to make it work. It’s pretty amazing when you look at it from any angle.

The addition of the Prototype Godbomber parts are a nice touch, as well as the God Blade sword.

The only real negative here is the lack of ratchet joints in Super Ginrai’s shoulders and elbows. With the combined weight of the God Arms, a rifle and the Chokon Power effects parts, expect the arms to have a hard time staying upright. It’s not a deal breaker, but I really wish Takara Tomy anticipated this and made the necessary improvements from the get go.
