Transformers Masterpiece MPG-15 Rattrap

Lol… I found it funny Takara Tomy forgot all about Tigertron in this image….

The set comes with an alternate head for Rattrap in beast mode, which has “whiskers” to make it look more interesting. It’s pretty practical, since the whiskers would get in the way of transforming the figure if you couldn’t get them out of the way.

The set also provides this adapter piece so Rattrap can piggyback on Optimus Primal’s back, just like from that scene in the series.

Sarcastic and irreverent, Rattrap loves to point out the obvious whenever there’s trouble. Being the smallest of the Maximals, he prefers being sneaky, instead of going in guns blazing, when up against Predacon threats. Rattrap is also the Maximal team’s demolitions expert, always carrying around enough explosives with him to blow up any Predacon outpost to kingdom come.

Since Rattrap is the smallest Maximal, he stands only roughly 5.5 inches tall.

Unfortunately, the rat ears in robot mode tend to get in the way of his face in some angles.

The set provides Rattrap with two additional face plates.

Lol… his “surprised”, freaked-out face is always funny to look at. Thankfully, the light piping this time works like a charm on this figure (which is more than I can say for MP Rhinox).

As his area of expertise is demolitions, he comes with some explosive charges packed away in both of his forearms.

Lastly, Rattrap comes with his main weapon, the Rat-beam gun (yeah, that’s what it’s called).

With this best bud, Rhinox.

I didn’t have time to break out the other MP Maximals for a group shot, I’ll have to revisit this later.

Overall, a pretty decent release. I love the optional facial expressions and the option to swap the beast mode heads around, so that the figure has “whiskers” when in alt mode. The small bombs hidden in his arms were a nice surprise find, too!

The only glaring negatives I have with this release are probably the rat ears that tend to get in the way of the figure’s face in certain angles. I wish they could be folded in somehow so that they get out of the way when in robot mode. That plus the huge glaring backpack on the robot mode, but it is what it is.

I’m just glad we finally completed the main Maximal team!

But, brother, I can’t believe it took Takara Tomy 10 years to complete the main Maximals in the Masterpiece line (Optimus Primal came out in 2016). I REALLY doubt we’ll ever see Takara Tomy completing the G1 line up, not even in 50 years…
