Transformers Studio Series 86-12 Coronation Starscream

Heh… accessories are all wrapped in paper. I’ll have to get used to that.

After finally living his dream as leader of the Decepticons following Megatron’s “departure”, Starscream holds a grand coronation ceremony in Cybertron’s “Hall of Heroes”. His tenure ends shortly following the arrival of Megatron, now reborn as Galvatron.

The figure is a slight retool and redeco of Earthrise Starscream, with very minor color changes and new articulated hands.

Ugh… those terrible, terrible gaps in the chest will haunt me forever with this mold..

The figure sports some new articulated hands this time around, to recreate his “My Fellow Decepticons” speech pose.

As usual, Starscream comes with his arm-mounted Null-Ray blasters.

Compared to his earlier Earthrise release, Starscream this time comes without any paint apps on his tail fins (more cartoon-accurate look).

“All Hail Starscream” Coronation set.

The set features alterative Null-Ray Blasters that have a higher peg setting so that they can be pegged into the shoulder pads to help the figure recreate his infamous “My Fellow Decepticons” pose.

The cape borrows from Masterpiece MP-11 Starscream’s design, housing a double hinge joint that allows for the cape to expand out.

Set up together with the “All Hail Starscream” cardboard insert backdrop, and it all comes together beautifully.

Lastly, the set features a Decepticon Command Chair based on the one aboard the Decepticon warship, the Nemesis, from the first episode of the original G1 cartoons. This is what I actually wanted the most, going into this set.

I’m totally clueless as to what this slot is for.

Starscream’s coronation parts can be all plugged into the back of the chair.

The shoulder pads go here.

Likewise, the cape can also be neatly pegged into the back of the chair.

Starscream sits comfortably in the chair. Thanks to the wide seat space.

While the chair looks pretty good placed next to “Crowned Starscream”, there’s no way you can sit him down on the “throne” with the cape parts equipped.

But I think we all know who this chair is really for…

Overall, I love it! It’s priced as a Leader Class but it does come with enough to make up for the higher price point. I really love the Nemesis Command Chair included with the set and the Coronation parts are something that’s never been officially done before for the CHUGs scale line, so it all comes together really well. The only thing missing are Starscream’s ashen remains, after Galvatron killed him, to complete the whole set up. Lol.
